Principal's News

Our theme for this year is

STEP UP! BE MORE!

HAVE A WONDERFUL AND SAFE EASTER AND ENJOY THE HOLIDAYS!

SEE YOU ALL BACK AT SCHOOL ON MONDAY 19TH APRIL

Dear Parents,

Thanks to all those who were able to deliver flyers for us. We have had many willing helpers deliver flyers and we hope the word is spreading about our great school out there in the community.

Thanks to all those who were able to come and help at the working bee on Friday evening. We had a great turnout and were able to get all jobs completed and finish a little early for a yummy afternoon tea of pizzas and some refreshing drinks. Thanks to the following families:

Canon, Chaloemtivakorn, Frieri, Tsiotinas, Lane, Harman, Young, Gallagher, Nunziato, Skadiang, White, Zammit, Ilardi, Gibellini, Stefanetti, Marini.

We must congratulate our year 5/6 students on great sportsmanship and great achievements during the interschool sport tournament against local schools this term.

Our basketball team and cricket team were both unbeaten and have made it through to the next level of competition. Our tennis teams also did us proud and the girls tennis team made it through to the grand final and finished in runners up position.

Over the last few weeks I have been taking part in a "Mental Health First Aid Course" with a small group of friends and colleagues. It has been an eye opening experience and extremely beneficial, but also confronting at times when we learn of some of the facts and statistics associated with the area. It has certainly helped me to be a more proactive colleague and friend and more aware of what to do and say when I am worried about someone. I cannot recommend highly enough the benefits of undertaking some form of "Mental Health First Aid" course, as it seems as important (if not more-so) in this time, as the usual First Aid Courses we undertake to keep our loved ones physically safe.

WELCOME BBQ:

We look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday evening at 5.30 p.m. for our WELCOME BBQ. Please remember to bring your own drinks and chairs or rug - hamburgers, sausages, and all the trimmings will be provided.

HOLY WEEK/EASTER EVENT:

All families are invited to attend our end of term Holy Week/Easter celebration on Thursday 1st April at 12.30 p.m. (No it is not a joke - you really are allowed to attend!)

The Holy Week/Easter celebration will be followed by the drawing of the PFA Easter Raffle and school will end at 1.30 p.m. at the conclusion of the raffle drawing.

DROP OFF AND PICK UP IN TERM 2:

In term two we will slightly alter our end of day pick up routine. We will continue with our morning drop off routine and remind all families to please NOT leave students unattended at school prior to 8.45 a.m. There is no supervision prior to 8.45 a.m. and students are not permitted to be on the school grounds without adult supervision.

At the end of the day those families who would like to get out of their car to collect their children from the wooden verandah will be able to angle park against the rock wall - please back in so you can drive out. This will allow those who would like to continue to drive through to collect their children to do so. Please remember to socially distance when coming onto the school grounds.

CARITAS FUNDRAISERS:

In order to raise funds for Caritas the Junior level have organised a "Crazy Hat Day" on Tuesday 30th March for all classes. We ask that you bring a gold coin donation for Caritas and be part of the crazy hat day parade.

On Wednesday 31st March the senior level have organised a movie session between 11.30 a.m.  - 1.30 p.m. (with popcorn I hear) for all students and again we ask for a gold coin donation which will be collected for Caritas.

SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION:

All those families with a student making their First Reconciliation this year (Both 2020 and 2021 students) will need one parent to attend the Reconciliation Workshop Night on Monday 19th April at 7.00 p.m. in the church. This is a night for adults only (no children please) and is the first day back at school in Term 2, so please mark this date in your calendar.

COVID REMINDERS:

  • You are very welcome to come into the office and direct all inquiries/messages  to Robyn, but please do not enter the learning spaces.
  • Please ensure you and your children stay home if unwell and get tested
  • Continue to practise good hand hygiene

STUDENT ABSENCE REQUIREMENTS

MAJOR ROAD WORKS IN OUR AREA:

I was contacted earlier in the week by the project manager of a company that is doing major roadworks in the area. These road works are an ongoing 3 year project and will cause disruption to traffic flow around the area. I will get updates from the company from time to time and share them with you in our newsletter so that you know what is happening and what areas to avoid. Please check the community news section of our newsletter for further updates.

2022 ENROLMENTS:

If you are aware of anyone who has a child starting prep in 2022  please encourage them to contact us for an enrolment pack. If you have a child starting school in 2022 - feel free to access the enrolment form on our website or by accessing the link below.

Kindest regards
