Italian Week - Competition Winners

Italian Week Competition 2022

This year, WGVPS students were invited to find out about some of the countless ways Italy has made contributions to the world through STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).   They were then encouraged to; think, problem-solve, create, innovate, invent something that linked to their discoveries.

The judges were regaled with everything from budding chefs presenting cooking demos and interviews about Italian food and eating habits; builders who constructed a WW1 fighter plane, a diorama of the Italia vs Australia women’s water polo field, an Italian home with the adjoining Leaning Tower for sale; a puppet show about ordering Italian food, presentations about Italian fashion and textiles in Ancient Rome and now; Italian iconic characters constructed from Lego… – a truly amazing collection.

Naturally, the judges’ decision was not easy, but the final result was;

  • equal 3rd prize winners - Grace & Georgie, and Otto
  • equal 2nd prize winners – Jakob, and Beatrice, Caroline & Dot
  • first prize winner – Anousha & Iris

The winners were awarded vouchers from Galati & Sons at our last assembly, and runners-up received packs of pasta for their good work.

You can see some of the entries in the photos below.

Well done to everyone who entered, and to Mr Robinson and the classroom teachers who inspire them in their Design and Technologies lessons.

Attendance Matters

Congratulations to Caroline in Year 5 for winning the individual attendance competition for weeks 5 and 6.

The winners of the class attendance competition were Room 12 in week 6 and Room 14 in week 7 well done Year 1 students for such great attendance.

As we are heading to the end of the year, it is important that children still attend school regularly.  Whilst teachers begin to wind down teaching curriculum areas, they will still be carrying out important collaborative and social activities with their students. Children love this time of year and having them at school to enjoy time with their class mates will be special for them.

If your child is unwell, please let school know through the online absence form, or emailing your child’s teacher.
