Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

Congratulations to Rooms 14 and 9 on their wonderful assemblies that were held recently.

All, of the students spoke very well in front of an audience. Thank you to Ms Carere, Ms Foster and Mrs Wright for preparing them and coming up with such interesting themes.

Our appreciation goes out to Annkatrin and Alastair for preparing the undercover area and to all the group of year 5 parents who put together the Camp Out held recently. The lighting, stage, music and food offerings were fantastic and certainly added to the evening and following morning.

Our Artist in Residence, Jenny Dawson, will undertake the firing of the ceramic tiles over the Christmas and New Year period, with an opening of our tile mural at the beginning of March 2023. Students will have had the opportunity to complete two tiles. One will come home as a keepsake.

At our recent Board meeting, the members expressed an appreciation for the feedback received on our two-yearly survey from parents, students and staff. The data will help inform school planning for the next two years.

The draft budget and Operational plans for 2023 were explained.

The updated Department document called FOCUS 2023 was discussed. This document helps drive schools each year with their organisation. The school is looking at two new curriculum initiatives for 2023. These were outlined. For years 3-6 most of our students will be involved with ‘Spelling Mastery’ whilst some others will be undertaking ‘Sounds Right’. The school was successful in being accepted into a Lighthouse Maths professional learning program through Scitech where some staff will be upskilled to share with the remainder of

staff current problem-solving skills that can be used across year levels for maths.

Our thanks to the Board chaired by Mr Gretton for their input and impact on the school this year.

The P&C Fundraising team, Year level parents and everyone else involved this year raising funds for the school are to be congratulated for collecting in excess of $15,000. Our thanks to all of the executive and members of the P&C for their time and efforts during the year led by Courtney Costen, our President.

COMING UP.

Our Book Prize assembly is scheduled for Thursday 8 December at 9:00am.

In the following week, our Edu-Dance concert will be on Tuesday 13 December. Parents are asked to drop off their child to the classroom by 4:45pm. The staff will then walk them across to the courts at 5:00pm with a start scheduled for 5:15pm.

On Wednesday 14 December, there will be a Graduation assembly at 9:00am for our year 6 students. This will be followed by cake cutting and shirt signing. Later in the day the students will head to the Fremantle Sailing Club with their staff for lunch.

On Thursday 15 December at 2:45pm, our graduating students will be farewelled by the rest of the school and the bell rung as they head back to class for the last time.

On behalf of our school community, to all of our families who have cases of COVID at home and are away from school or work, take care and look after yourselves.
