And students can find all the information they need on
In order that students can better research and plan for their future beyond Brunswick, it is vital that all current Year 12 students need complete the BSC Pathways Planning Formas soon as possible. Using this information, the Pathways team can provide tailored resources and advice to help students to meet their goals for 2024.
In other Pathways news, the 2022 Year 12 cohort received some amazing offers for further study and training, and I want to share their achievements with you!
Sixty four (64) students received their first preference offer for university or TAFE from VTAC, which is marvellous news. Twenty four (24) students received their second preference, and in total our graduates received 135 offers. In 2022, our students received the most offers from: RMIT, La Trobe, Victoria University and The University of Melbourne.
I chatted to some of 2022 Graduates to get their take on the process of applying for and beginning their current pathways.
Sandro Mortimer accepted an offer for the Bachelor of Computer Science (Professional) at RMIT. This course was his first preference, and he’s really happy with the offer.
"The VTAC offer process was really simple once I had my list together but took a bit of research to get there."
Sandro also had these comments for 2023 Year 12 students:
“You WILL make it! Regardless of ATAR, subjects or extraneous circumstances, there is a pathway that you can find fulfilment in”.
Ryan Wu (School Captain 2022) has secured his apprenticeship as a baker. When I asked him what his plans are for this year, Ryan said
“My plans for 2023 are very simple. I aim to focus on my apprenticeship and try to learn as much as I can. I want to gain as much experience as I can through my work. I will learn from my mistakes, I will experiment by working with new ingredients, techniques and recipes with the aim of becoming the most skilled baker/pastry chef out there!”
Exciting! When we discussed the apprenticeship process, Ryan said,
“The process of arranging this apprenticeship at first seemed really complicated and all over the place, however, with the help of Laura and Penny (our VET coordinator) I was able to quickly understand how the arrangements were going to happen and how I was going to be enrolling into this program”.
For those in year 12 now, Ryan’s advice is
“I want you to know that you shouldn’t underestimate your personal skills. If you have a hobby you love or have a really amazing skill at something in particular, then you can turn that into a future pathway for yourself.
Just because your friends may be going down a different pathway than yours doesn’t mean you have to follow them or that you are missing out on something.
If you are still not sure about your own pathway, then sticking to what you are good at - or what you want to be good at - is the best advice I have for you ."
