Learning from the Past

Year 10
On the 13th and 14th of February, all Year 10 students had the wonderful opportunity of attending an enrichment experience at the Melbourne Holocaust Museum as a part of our current study unit in Humanities.
We were able to understand the major causes of the Holocaust, the gradual progression of the persecution of the Jewish people and how deeply it influenced the Jewish population in Europe. We observed and analysed sources from the time period and even had the privilege of meeting a survivor from the Holocaust in a Q&A panel, which was especially valuable.
It was so eye-opening and fascinating to go on this excursion; learning about the Jews experience in a school environment is vastly different to being in the presence of a survivor, who is willing to share her powerful and inspiring story.
Learning about the Holocaust is essential to understanding how this mass murder occurred and how to ensure this tragic circumstance won't happen in the future. Thank you to all the Humanities teachers for organising this wonderful event!
