Two Bands, Two Gold Medals

Last week our Intermediate Concert Band and Senior Concert Band took part  in the 2022 Victorian Schools Music Festival (VSMF) competition. And came home with a gold medal each!

The Intermediate Concert Band consists of students who play a woodwind, brass, or a percussive instrument. They are a dynamic group led by Carol Thomas and David Bonfa. 

This ensemble has worked hard in creating a balanced sound and playing with much musicality. The group performed two contrasting works for the competition which were prescribed by the organisers. 

The Senior Concert Band,led by Peter Sheridan, performed their three prepared works,  showcasing a great range of styles. Both groups received a gold ranking from the adjudicators, as well as positive comments on their performance abilities.

After performing, both bands were given the opportunity to spend time with the adjudicators as they workshopped through the pieces. They are to be congratulated on their brilliant preparation.
