Principal's Report

Manuela Watson

Dear Parents and Friends

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is a sacrament of healing. There are times in our lives when we need healing, we need understanding and we need forgiveness for the wrong we have done.  This need for healing, understanding and forgiveness is something we hope occurs within the loving relationships of our family and friends. It is something we hope everyone has experienced.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation however, acknowledges the ongoing acceptance of a loving God through a ritual which involves me acknowledging my wrong doing (confession) and reconciling (reconciliation) with those whom I have hurt or relationships I have fractured in some way. The Sacrament of Reconciliation asks us to become better people to consider mending or restoring relationships and to reach out to others.

Last Tuesday night the Year Two students and their families attended a faith development evening about Reconciliation. Father Cartwright and the Year Two teachers facilitated an evening to give parents and their children the opportunity to talk about the relevance of the Sacrament of Reconciliation in their lives today.

As part of their spiritual preparation, the students and their families are invited to attend Mass over the next four weeks. The students will receive a Holy Card for their “Passports” each weekend as a sign of their participation and preparation.

On Saturday 23rd November and Saturday 30th November the students will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation at either the 9:45am or the 5:00pm Masses.

Please keep these students and their families in your prayers.

Dogs and other animals on School Grounds:

Today I have attached a copy of St Fidelis’  “Dogs and other Animals on School Grounds Procedure” The reason for the policy to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all members of St Fidelis.  Dogs are an important part of life for many St Fidelis School families and as such are often included in day-to-day activities such as walking children to and from school. The school appreciates this inclusion and values pet ownership as an educational experience. The school also acknowledges other people can find contact with dogs stressful, even frightening. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation with adhering to this procedure.

Enjoy your week everyone
