I start my report this week with a very serious subject. No doubt many of you will be aware from our Facebook site, our school app or directly from your children that aerosol cans are a banned item at Cowra High. Though this is a Department of Education approach in all schools, it takes on a particularly serious tone at Cowra High. We currently have a number of students who can have asthma triggered by aerosols and we have one student who WILL suffer life threatening respiratory distress if she comes into contact with aerosols. On a number of occasions this year it has been necessary to call for an ambulance. Although the vast majority of students have understood the seriousness of the situation and co-operated by only bringing roll-on or stick deodorants to school, a small number of students persist in doing the wrong thing. I am now asking parents to please take an active role in ensuring your child does not bring any type of aerosol to school. I look forward to your support so we can provide a safe and enjoyable learning environment for all our students.
Next week Year 9 head off on their annual adventure excursion to Aussie Bush Camp at Kincumber. The students I've spoken to are very excited about the upcoming trip and I can't blame them. The camp promises many challenging and exciting experiences. I look forward to hearing how they have conquered the challenges put before them.
A quick reminder to the parents of Year 7 students joining us in 2017. We will be holding an information evening next Monday in our school library. I encourage you to come along where we will answer any questions you might have, provide important information to help your child start the year in a positive way and take you on a short tour of the school.
Have a great fortnight

At a special assembly last week the 2017 School Captains and new Prefects were presented with their badges of office.
