Early Years After School Sport Program

This year we have made some amazing changes to our EY After School Sport Program. We have included some of our Middle Years leaders in the program to promote a positive school culture whilst developing the skills of our younger students. We asked Clayton J from Year 8, Ajang D from Year 4 and Ryan C from Year 3 about their experiences in Term 3.

1.     What have you covered this term in the Early Years After School Sport Program?

CJ: I have been involved in basketball, ultimate frisbee and handball. Throughout the sessions we have coached the younger students from developing their skills to tactical focus in games.

AD: In these sessions we have been learning about sports that we have never done before. Matt and the student leaders help us learn about different sports like basketball, soccer and more.

RC: We have covered basketball skills such as dribbling, match practice and games such as knock out. We have also done soccer focusing on keeping control of the ball and passing.

2.     Have you enjoyed being involved in the program? Why?

CJ: Yes I believe that this experience has been good as it has given me confidence to teach younger kids sport skills and I could become a coach knowing I have already experienced working with younger kids.

AD: Yes, working with the students from the other campus has been fun. There’s a lot of sports that they know how to play which makes the program better and exciting.

RC: Yes, working with the MY kids has been fun because they are helpful. They show us how to do skills. Also, having more people around to ask questions makes the class better.
