Year 11 Applied RE

Environment Excursion to Organ Pipes National Park

As a part of Applied RE, the students are invested as Venturer Scouts and therefore work towards earning their Venturer Award in Year 11 and the Queen’s Scout Award if they continue in Year 12.

Currently the Year 11 Students are visiting Organ Pipes National Park over three week’s to participate in various activities that will give them 6 hour’s and 45 minutes towards the 10 hour requirement of the VA level Environment Badge.

The three activities are:

  1. Netting and removing Mosquito Fish (a fish that is not native to the area and is considered a pest).
  2. Assisting an Organ Pipes Volunteer in placing and removing wire tree guards.
  3. Hiking around the park and learning about the native flora and fauna.

The final 3 hour’s and 15 minutes will be completed by taking part in an activity at Treetops Scout Camp during their Expedition Camp in September, and finally they are required to write a report about what they did to earn the Environment badge.
