SENIOR VCAL 2016

On behalf of the Senior VCAL class of 2016 we would like to say thank you to the Mount Eliza Community for helping us raise over $22,000 for our volunteer trip to Laos.

A special thank you to Eliza Meats for their constant support and donations of sausages for our BBQs, Masters Mornington for providing us with equipment and a place to run BBQs for nearly every weekend since November 2015.

Thank you also to Mount Eliza Uniting Church for allowing us to run possibly our biggest event the Senior VCAL Trivia Night and of course our Principal Mrs Angela Pollard for letting us run various meat tastings and other special events at Mount Eliza Secondary College.

We are looking very forward to our trip in September!

TINY TOWNS AWARD

Last year, the Intermediate VCAL group completed a community project in the Mount Eliza village. The group played a significant part in planning, researching, creating and developing the space. The group worked with various community organisations, such as the Mornington Peninsula Shire, Rotary, and the Men's Shed to complete this project. As a result of their work, the space in Mount Eliza has been nominated for a 'Tidy Towns' award and we recently found out we have been listed as a finalist! Senior VCAL students Mahson Lee and Stanley Williams will attend the awards ceremony on the 2nd of September.

Well done and good luck!

INDONESIA'S INDEPENDENCE DAY

On 17th August students from junior classes participated in a variety of Indonesian workshops to celebrate Indonesia’s Independence Day

Students played traditional Indonesian games including congklak (Indonesian board game), makan crupuk (eating Indonesian prawn crackers) and lompat karet (elastics).

Students also had the chance to dress up in traditional Indonesian clothing like kebaya’s and peci’s.

The day was a lot of fun for all students involved and everyone learnt something new about the Indonesian culture and traditions!
