From Principal Team

Welcome back to our Prep, Year 1 and 2 students it was so lovely to see your faces, hear your excited voices and share stories about our adventures for the past 8 weeks.  We would like to applaud the amazing efforts of our parent community who took on the role of teacher or facilitator and I am sure uncovered some super talents in your children, while others found switching roles very difficult and confusing in their household.  You are all winners and the successes varied and are well worth a pat on the back.

There has been a great emphasis on safe practices this week; hand washing, sanitising, social distancing for staff and where we can also for our students.  The drop off and pick up has been reasonably smooth and we urge everyone to be patient and communicate in a calm and considerate manner.  We are all doing our best.

Teachers have gone beyond and above in creating a range of activities to re-establish relationships and ensure engagement and safety are paramount.

Primary

We have been reshaping the learning spaces and on return you will see our library is now located in the main building.  It looks fantastic and really places reading on centre stage.

Many thanks to Meagan, Natalie and their team of many helpers. We also have created a Calm Space. The creativity and energy of our student support staff have resulted in a sanctuary for students to have some quiet time, focus on an activity and feel safe.

Thank you to Janine, Emily, Lesley, Paul, Rosie and Rim for your endless ideas and we look forward to witnessing the opportunities this space will create for our Primary students.

Claire Strasser our Music Teacher has decided to take leave for the remainder of the year during which time a 2nd child will arrive. We wish Claire, Aaron and Arlo all the best as they eagerly await their new family member.  Naomi Harris will replace Claire in Semester 2 and we will see her around on Mondays until the end of Term.

We have welcomed Paul to our student support team and we have farewelled for the moment Josh Beare who has decided to explore some new opportunities.

You will also notice some changes in the office on Primary with the friendly faces of Karen, Brooke and Amanda K, answering your questions.

Please tune in to our live streamed assembly on Friday 29th May and 12th June at 2:30 pm via Facebook live.

Secondary

At this stage we have only students attending by prior arrangement but there are some activities being reshaped.  Student contact is growing and the Bounce Back team is working hard to take on board all of the feedback on how to return to learning can be most effective for adolescent learners.

Staffing changes on the Secondary site included a big welcome back to Laura Pinney who will join the Year 6 team in June.  Alyssha Phillips will be in our Year 7 and 8 Maths and English team and Shannon Hennessy will commence family leave on June 15th. Rachel Kargotoglu will be a new addition to our Science/ Stem team.  Bonnie Butterworth who some of you will remember is joining our student support team on Wednesdays moving forward.

In the office on the Secondary Campus we will have Dana, Amanda C and Belinda sharing the roles.

Please note

The canteen will not be open this term.

Academies will not restart until Term 3 – Students will attend their scheduled class while we review these programs.

The Tradewise Program should start up for Term 3

School Production for this Year has been cancelled

Camps for years 3 /4 and 5/6 are going ahead at this stage.

The Year 9/10 Formal has been rescheduled for December.

Over the next few weeks Secondary Students will not be issued with new work.  Our Bounce Back Program will support the students to reflect on their learning at home, seek staff to support tricky incomplete learning, reflection activities and re-establish relationships, routines while exploring opportunities for what worked.

We are all celebrating at this point that we have succeeded in different ways. There is much learning about who we are as learners and there is hope that we will capture all the lessons and influence our future.

Please be aware as directed the Education Department CSEF funds have been used to ensure iPads have been available for at home usage for all students.  Have a wonderful weekend and stay safe.
