Hoop Time Regional Finals Year 4

All Star Boys and Girls Teams

Hoop Time Regional finals were held on Monday 11th November for our All Star Boys and Girls team made up of students from Year 4. Both teams played many games, the games were challenging and the competition was very tough, but our students represented themselves very well. I was very proud of the way they conducted themselves and were very respectful. A huge thank-you to Hamish R.W. and Bernadette D. for your enthusiasm and very professional coaching expertise.

Mac and Eliza have written a summary of the day.

REGIONAL HOOP TIME  YEAR 4 BOYS

Hoop time was a very intense and very high level under ten basketball competition and we only ended up winning one game and sadly losing 4 games.

Game 1: We versed Malvern Tigers, it was a close first half, but we let them get away from us and sadly we lost by eight points.

Game 2:  In our second game, we versed Armadale Primary School. It was an incredible match as we demolished them by 22 outstanding beautiful points.

Game 3:  In our third game we versed the impossible St Joseph's Hawthorn Primary School. They had an outstanding tall centre, who blocked 50% of our shots. At half time we were leading by 2 points, but that outstanding centre just wouldn't let us score. And in the end they beat us by 12 terrible, annoying  points and about 80% of them came from their centre.

Game 4:  We versed the incredible, impossibly amazing, annoying South Melbourne Primary School. They had one outstanding representative player who pretty much scored all their points. They ended up crushing us by 28 incredible amazing, outstanding, crazy points.

Game 5:  We versed St Kilda Primary School it was a finger biting close game and Lachie scored two awesome 3 pointers! We ended up blowing the match by one point because they scored an impossible 3 point shot buzzer beater and they went absolutely nuts.

A huge thank you to Hamish, our encouraging and great coach!

YEAR 4 ALL STAR GIRLS REGIONALS HOOPTIME

We hopped on the bus buzzing with excitement, ready and pumped for the day ahead.

Game 1:  We practically jumped onto the court so excited. Unfortunately we lost in the heated game against the Malvern Tigers, but there was still hope.

Game 2:  Although the hope we had slowly faded away when we lost the second game of the day to Middle Park, the best girls team there. There was still a tiny bit of hope left.

Game 3:  As this now seemed to be a recurring thing, we lost again to the Breakers, though it was a close game, which added a tiny bit more hope to our team, boosting our stamina.

Game 4:  We were now up against the Tigers again. We lost again. By now all hope was lost and nearly everybody had been injured. We still had one more game to win.

Consolation Game:  We were up against St Kilda and we worked really hard but we had no hope and lost once again.

We didn’t get through to States but that's ok because we had a great day. Thank you to Bernie for coaching us.

Staff v Student Netball Match

Our annual staff v student netball match was held last Friday. The Year 6’s were willing on summer in their bright and humorous Hawaiin costumes. The teachers held their props until the last minute and then revealed ourselves as “The masked teachers”! As always the teachers won…… a huge thank-you to the Year 6 students who organised the event as well as Bernie W and Maureen F for umpiring. Thank-you to the other staff also who supervised the students from F-5.

Swimming Program and Carnival

We commenced our school swimming program this week and look forward to the upcoming carnival. This will be held at the same location as in previous years.

SwimRight Sandringham

150 Tulip Street, Cheltenham, Vic, 3192

The swimming program will run from Monday 18th November until Wednesday 27th November.  The swimming carnival will be held the following day on Thursday 28th November.  If you have any concerns regarding the swimming program please contact myself or your child’s classroom teacher.  We will be asking for volunteers to help get students ready before and after swimming.  It is mandatory that all Parent Helpers have a current Working With Children Check, with details uploaded on CareMonkey.

Also can I ask that all families please ensure their child’s CareMonkey is up to date in regards to swimming abilities.

During the swimming carnival we will not be allowing students  to visit the cafeteria with their parents or with other students. Once the carnival is finished, students who are being dismissed with their parents, are more than welcome to use the canteen facilities.

N.B. House coloured caps are compulsory for the actual swimming carnival and are available for purchase from the office @ $8.00 each.    They are not required for the lead up swimming program, but it is recommended that students wear a swimming cap at all times when in the pool.

Thank-you,

Mrs Georgia McNamara
