OSHClub

What we’ve been up to at OSHC!
Over the past two weeks we have been learning about how to keep our minds healthy, remembrance day and personal safety. The children have really enjoyed learning about some mindfulness strategies that can keep them feeling happy and calm as well as participating in some yoga! On Remembrance day, we walked over to the Star Gardens to read a story, taking a moment to reflect on the significance of the day. As part of our commitment to our child safe policy at OSHClub, the children learnt about topics relating to their personal safety which included:
Who makes you feel safe?
Your body belongs to you
How to recognise when you feel unsafe
Identifying a safety network
Each afternoon, the children watched a short video developed by the Daniel Morcombe Foundation that discusses these topics in a fun and developmentally appropriate way. After which, we had a short discussion about the topic they'd learnt about. Our child safe policy has been developed in response to the Child Safe Standards, which support all services that provide care for children to create a child safe organisation that protects children from all forms of abuse.
Some things we’ve learnt this week:
“Stop! My body belongs to me!”- Emily S and Lenni G in Grade Two
“From your toes to your knows, you say what goes, your body belongs to you!”- Marko in Grade Two
Check out some of the super fun things we’ve been up to below!
Coming up at OSHClub!
Our theme for this week is ‘Emergency Safety’. We will be learning about what our emergency service staff do for our community and what to do in an emergency. Each week we will have a ‘Kidz on Wheels’ session, where your child may bring in their scooter or bike (with helmet). Please feel free to get involved if you wish! Check out some of the awesome activities we have planned for next week.
We look forward to making new friends and learning new things through play and social experiences. As always there will also be a quiet time for homework, relaxation and reading.
Homework Club
Mornings: 7.00am-8.15am
Afternoons: 3.45pm-4.30pm and 5.00pm-5.30pm
If your children need any help with their homework, please feel free to speak to Lachie or Laura about how we can help them! We are always willing to give your child some extra support with projects or readers if they need!
Menu
Below are some of our menu specials for this week at OSHC!
A platter of fresh fruit and vegetables are always served with our menu specials.
Curriculum Day 29th November
On the 29th of November, we will be running a full day session from 7.00am-6.00pm at OSHClub. Our theme for the day will be ‘Summer Loving’! We will have a range of fun activities planned including an excursion to the local gardens, summer treats and making recycled water features. If you’d like to book in for this program, please do so through your kidsoft portal. The cost of the day will be $64.00 before any CCS rebates.
Do you have any recycled materials we could use at OSHClub?
As part of our initiative to embed more sustainable practices within our program, we would love it if you could bring any recyclable materials that the children could repurpose into some awesome craft inventions! Things like toilet rolls, jars, boxes or even newspaper would be fantastic! Take a look at what we’ve been creating already!
Survey Time!
As part of our commitment to providing high quality care for children and families at our service, each month we are seeking your feedback on our performance as aligned with the National Quality Standard.
This week we are seeking your feedback on Quality Area 4: Staffing Arrangements. If you have any spare time, we would greatly appreciate it if you could complete our survey monkey this week! This information will be used in our Quality Improvement Plan, a document that helps providers self-assess their performance in delivering quality education and care as well as to plan future improvements.
