"Farmer wants a Ball"

Annual College Ball – ‘Farmer wants a Ball’ – 10th September 2021

Staff and students have been very busy organising the Ball this year. Information and permissions will be sent out shortly, followed by ticket sales.  Year 10, Year 11 and Year 12 students are invited and students can invite an outside partner, subject to confirmation from the partner’s current school regarding appropriate behaviour for this event.  This will allow us to make an informed decision about participation.  Attendees must be over 16 and up to 19 years of age to attend.  Previous students of the College who have been denied residency or who have left the College due to circumstances pertaining to the College Code of Conduct, will not be permitted to attend the 2021 ‘Farmer Wants a Ball’.

  • Students and partners will not be approved to self-drive to the venue: Students will be transported to and from the Ball by the College coach. College transport will be leaving at 6.15 - 6.30 pm.
  • Pick up from Ball: Students with leave approved can be collected from the College by a Parent/Legal Guardian after being released by staff and will be deemed to be on home weekend leave.
  • Students will not be approved to self-drive from the College after the Ball
  • Venue clean-up: The Ball Committee will be required to remain behind to assist with the clean-up at the venue.

NOTE WELL:

  • Students will ONLY be released on Friday night from the College to Parents/Legal Guardians.
  • Students will NOT be allowed to self-drive;
  • Students who are not collected will stay at the College and can go on approved leave and self-drive on Saturday morning.

Early Departure on REACH

Extra detail required in the notes: If your child has an appointment that requires an early departure from the program, please provide details of this information in the notes section in REACH.  A phone call to the College would also be appropriate if your child is missing classes.

Uniforms

Students are required to wear their class uniform when they are walking or being transported into town after school, Monday to Friday for shopping purposes. Students are not permitted in town or in the shops in their blues or sports uniforms.  If students are walking into town they must be in pairs or in a group. Students are not permitted to walk by themselves into town.

Leavers Jackets 2022

We have called for a ‘Leavers Jacket 2022 Committee’ and we are encouraging our current Year 11 students to work on their design so that we can achieve a consensus before the end of Term 3.  The plan is to have orders placed and paid for before the end of the 2021 year.  The jackets can then be ordered and delivered in a much timelier manner.

Lost Property

The laundry has a large number of clothing items in their lost property.  We have tried various different ways for students to claim their items however the pile is not diminishing.  If you are at the College please take the time to speak with our laundry ladies and check the lost property for any clothing that your child may be missing.

Second hand uniforms are also available in the laundry.  Check with our laundry ladies if you need to change sizes of clothing before buying anything new.  We welcome donations of the College uniform (in good condition) as students leave the College.

REACH Installation

We still have some students who are not using REACH due to outdated phones etc. however, you can log on through a College computer and use a browser to access REACH. Parents, if you are having issues with the App, please log on through your browser and/or approve via the email you receive once the students are submitting Leave.  Please note….I will not approve last minute leave.  Please have your leave organised prior to the weekend.

Health & Wellbeing

The College continues to provide support to students requiring doctors and other health related appointments. Where possible these appointments are made outside of school hours to minimise disruption to the school program. For any follow up appointments with specialists, the College asks parents and carers where possible to make these during school holidays.  Please contact the College if your child has any medical imaging needs before appointments are made in Albany.

When students are ill in residence the College will provide immediate care and will arrange necessary medical appointments. To minimise the spread of illness all students who are unwell are required to remain in their rooms, eat after all other students and minimise contact with other students until recovered. If students are unable to participate in the learning program for more than one day the College will contact families to discuss alternative care arrangements.

Medication

A reminder that we require students to hand in any medication that they have to residential staff where medication is recorded, stored and administered from the Residential Office.

School Psychologist

Bree Crocket is our Registered School Psychologist for 2021. Bree will be on campus on Thursday and every second Tuesday for students who would like to make an appointment.  Bree can help students with strategies for settling into boarding life, managing relationships, study habits and exam stress. We would like to encourage students to use this valuable service.  Parents can contact Bree on a Wednesday at the College.

Vehicle Forms

Prior to any student vehicle/motor cycle being brought to the College please ensure all forms are completed and up-to-date and that any vehicle or motorbike that comes on to site has been approved.  Quad bikes will not be approved as part of our recreational motor cycle program.

Travel Arrangements Home Weekend & End of Term
