Principal's Report

Our school doors may be closed for the majority of students, but we are still here for you and your child/ren! Please email your teachers or contact us at school if you need some assistance during this lockdown. Needless to say I am so disappointed we're here again and so soon.

Once again, it is with regret that we have had to cancel key school events.

To our 5/6 families, our upcoming camp next week has been cancelled and I know the disappointment your children are feeling. Special acknowledgement goes to our Grade 6 students who also missed out on last year's camp and who potentially may finish their primary school years without having a camp. Mrs Thornton has been talking with the camp and we are trying to reschedule it for a later date. Although the outcome is still unknown, we will keep you informed and let you know as soon as we know.

To our Prep families, the students 100 Days of School celebrations will now be held on the first day students return to onsite learning, whatever day that turns out to be.

We will have a whole school assembly on Tuesday 10 August from 3pm-3.30pm.

And now for the official information...

On Thursday 5 August 2021, the Victorian Government announced a state-wide lockdown for Victoria to swiftly address the newly emerging COVID-19 cases and reduce movement in the community. The restrictions will be in place from 8.00pm Thursday 5 August for a seven-day period. Following advice from the Victorian Chief Health Officer, all Victorian schools will move to a period of remote and flexible learning from today until Thursday 12 August (inclusive).

All students will move to learning from home from Friday 6 August – Thursday 12 August, except for students in the following categories:

Children where both parents and or carers are considered authorised workers who cannot work from home, work for an essential provider and where no other supervision arrangements can be made:

-Where there are two parents/carers, both must be essential workers, working outside the home in order for their children to be eligible for on-site provision.

For single parents/ carers, the essential worker must be working outside the home in order for their children to be eligible for on-site provision.

Children experiencing vulnerability, including:

-in out-of-home care

-deemed vulnerable by a government agency, funded family or family violence service, and assessed as requiring education and care outside the family home

-identified by a school or early childhood service as vulnerable, (including via referral from a government agency, or funded family or family violence service, homeless or youth justice service or mental health or other health service)

- Where a parent/carer indicates that a student with a disability is vulnerable because they cannot learn from home, and/or informs the school the student is vulnerable due to family stress, the school must provide on-site supervision for that student.

To assist us with staffing and if your child fits into one of the above categories please complete the attached Onsite Attendance form and email it to joanne.metcalfe@education.vic.gov.au as soon as possible.

We might not be Covid free yet but we're fairly sure we're now pigeon free at the theatre entrance. Thanks to Shane our handyman for his amazing efforts at constructing this. Not only does it look great, but the pigeon poo has gone!

A little bit of good news... Our new 1/2 area shade sail has been ordered. This will replace the old, torn one that was destroyed in the recent storms.

Be kind to yourselves and others and stay safe
