Baudin House Day

On Thursday 12 August, Baudin House is having a fundraising day.  We will be raising money for Solaris Cancer Care and Tola, our sponsor student in Cambodia.

Baudin House aims to raise funds through an opportunity to accessorise to our theme and with a cake stall. The dress-up theme is Pink (in order to raise awareness for breast cancer).  Students may like to wear pink ties, socks, jumpers, hair accessories or similar with their uniform.  Cakes will be available for purchase at recess.

Baudin families are asked to contribute to this fundraiser by making some cakes, cup-cakes or biscuits that can be sold (no nuts, please). Please drop baked goods at the Head of Baudin House office (Pratten Centre) on the morning of Thursday 12 August.

With Covid-19 as part of our lives please be mindful of taking the following food handling precautions when preparing baked goods:

  • wash hands thoroughly before, during and after the preparation of food;
  • ensure a clean and tidy workspace and utensils are used;
  • ensure a secure, clean and tidy mode of transportation to school.

At school we will take similar precautions such as the use of gloves and tongs as well as designated money handlers and food handlers.

Solaris Cancer Care is a community-based healthcare organisation. Their Cancer Support Centres are the first of their kind in Australia and offer support, information, education, and complementary therapies to cancer patients and their primary carers.

Solaris offers services that would otherwise need to be provided by the public health sector, including:

  1. Bringing together the best in modern medicine with evidence-based support services (therapies, education, wellness activities, support groups, and counselling).
  2. Responding to all cancers (the foremost service provider in WA to do so) and all stages of cancer journey – diagnosis, treatment, recovery, survivorship and palliative care, and now the impact of the COVID crisis on clients.
  3. Providing treatment and support to any public individual affected by cancer. Increasingly this service supports people in need even if not cancer impacted.

With 13,346 cancer diagnoses, 4,142 people die from cancer each year in WA. Sadly that means three in every ten deaths are from cancer each year and 29% of our population are living a cancer journey at any one time.

Thank you in anticipation of your support for these worthy causes.
