The Sacrament of First Eucharist

We congratulate the students who received their First Eucharist at OLMC on Saturday June 1st. It was a reverent and very special occasion for the students who were beautifully prepared, nervous and full of joy. There were many proud family members present too. Father Hugh celebrated the Sacrament in his usual friendly, relaxed and jovial manner.

The remainder of the First Eucharist students will make this sacrament at Sts Peter and Paul's, Sunday June 23rd at 10:00am in the morning. We wish them and their families God's very best! Please continue to keep these students in your prayers.

The Year 4 students attending Galilee are continuing to be involved in lessons and activities to learn about Eucharist.

A prayer for our First Eucharist candidates

"May your First Communion celebrate your friendship with Jesus.

As you grow in this friendship may your words be gentle and your touch be kind.

May you hear whispers of Love in your heart each day.

May you have fun in discovering God hidden everywhere!

And, may you remember to thank God often for the gift of life."

Feast Day of Sts Peter and Paul

30 June - Whole School family Mass to celebrate the Feast day of Sts. PP @ 10:00am.

We would like to invite the whole Galilee school community to celebrate this Mass. We'd love to see you there. Afterwards from 11:00-1:00pm, there will be a Talent Show, delicious food and an Animal Farm at the church hall and carpark.

If your child is interested in participating in the Talent Show as a musician, singer, choir member, or other, please let me know and I'll timetable them. I will organise a choir to sing an African Blessing song by Andrew Chinn.

Social Justice Leader's Dog/Cat Food Drive

The Year 6 SJ school leaders, Cody and Drew are working with the other SJ leaders in the school to create posters to create awareness of a 'Dog/Cat Food Drive.' The Dog/Cat food drive was inspired by Cody and his father who works for The Sacred Heart Mission. The intention is to raise food, old blankets, pet toys and other items to distribute to the homeless on our streets so they can look after their pets. These pets often keep the people who are homeless good company and protection. Please discuss this and your possible contributions with your family.

The pet goods can be brought to school before the end of this term and will be distributed by the The Sacred Heart Mission.

St Francis of Assisi Sustainability Market

The students and teachers are all looking forward to preparing items for, then participating in the St Francis of Assisi Sustainability market in the second last week of school. This wonderful and inspiring market will take place on the school grounds on Thursday June 20th at 3:35-4:30pm. Keep this date free and we look forward to seeing you all there!

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:

Where there is hatred, let me sow love;

Where there is injury, pardon;

Where there is doubt, faith;

Where there is despair, hope;

Where there is darkness, light;

Where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek

To be consoled as to console,

To be understood as to understand,

To be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive,

It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,

And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen.
