Food Technology
Students in Food Technology have been cooking a range of delicious recipes this term. The Year 11 Food Studies class have explored the origins of food and cultural roles of food from early civilisations through to today’s industrialised and global world. They have cooked a range of recipes including Potato and spinach quesadillas, Mini chicken and corn patties and bok choy salad, Quinoa, brown rice and roasted carrot salad, Spiced rice and Potato and bacon pancake stacks.
In Years 8, 9 and 10, Food Technology students are developing their practical skills and are using the design process for specific design brief activities such as designing their own muffin, own healthy fast food and meeting client needs.

Textiles incursion for students from Years 10, 11, and 12
On Thursday March 2nd we were all very excited to have an incursion provided by Whitehouse Institute of Design Australia. The group of students were taken through the many processes and techniques to draw the human body in a proportional manner, with fashion in mind.
A variety of materials were used for the different types of designs. Students learned the importance of different papers to use for each stage, and, for some, Copic markers were used for the first time.
The students had a full day of learning the importance of these stages. This incursion was of great benefit to their drawing options for their folios. Those who took the opportunity came up with some beautiful designs by the end of the day.
Each year Whitehouse Institute choose a student who has worked, designed and taken on feedback throughout the day and offers a free scholarship program that runs in the school holidays.
The lucky recipient this year is Frances Ta from Year 10. Congratulations. I am sure Frances will make the most of this amazing prize. There were many fantastic final designs on the day. Two other students were highly commended, Grace John from Year 11 and Alyssa Boric Year 11.
A great and worthwhile day for all.
