Year 10 LEAP

Our LEAP students have made a good start to their TAFE experience. Every Friday afternoon they attend Swinburne KIOSK Centre at the Wantirna campus. There they are experiencing education in an adult learning environment. I look forward to seeing what they will be producing by the end of each term. They are creating a design for a mystery 'client' for a sustainable plant house – this week they will be 3D printing their design and learning about plasma cutting. In a few weeks they will be going on an excursion to 'Factory of the Future' at Swinburne Hawthorn campus. Then in the last week of term they will be assembling their projects ready to add the electronics to it during Term 2.

I am looking forward to seeing this project come to life.

Year 10 Work Experience

At the risk of sounding repetitive, I must urge all Year 10 students to get their Work Experience placement sorted ASAP.

THERE ARE STILL 88 STUDENTS WHO HAVE NOT ORGANISED THIS.

With only three weeks left until they are due, I encourage you to use this long weekend to go from place to place seeking a position.

Remember, it is harder for employers to say 'No' to your face, than it is over the phone, and it is easy for them to ignore emails. Do some research, step outside your comfort zone and your community and cast your net wider to get something meaningful.

The longer you leave it, the harder it will be to get a placement.

Good Luck to all.
