Parent Club
I would like to thank Jodie Daniel for her Parent Club contributions over the past years. Jodie has had a passion for Kingswood ever since moving to us from another school. Jodie was instrumental in coordinating our extremely successful family fun night at the beginning of the year. This led to greater parent involvement and pride in our school community. Whilst Jodie may have stepped down as Parent Club President for personal reasons she will continue to offer her thoughts and opinions to me as a very passionate and supportive parent. Thanks again Jodie for your contributions to the school and laughs with me when chatting. Parent Club will determine, as a collective, how they move forward into an exciting new era.
How to be a positive role model on social media
How people use social media categorically influences how others perceive you and your behaviour. How we behave sends a very strong message to our child about what is appropriate or inappropriate online. To assist parents, I would like social media users to reflect on the following:
Respect - It costs nothing and goes a long way. Unfortunately, sitting behind a keyboard affords people the opportunity to say something they would not dare say to someone face-to-face. How would others view your posts?
Judgements - Making judgmental statements without being versed in facts creates undue confusion for some and disappointment by those that are on the receiving end whose integrity is being unfairly questioned. Before posting, do you consider if you are being judgmental?
Self-Management - If someone posts something negative, demonstrate self-restraint before responding and remember by clicking ‘like’ you are endorsing those posted comments. Question yourself if you are really in a position to comment and ask yourself “Am I posting from a position of knowledge?” Do your online posts mirror your real-life face-to-face interactions? If not, some reflection may be suggested.
Special Project Quadrangle Update
Thank you to those families that have contributed to the Fundraising Levy, to improve the quadrangle for all students at Kingswood. From our target of $30,000 we have so far raised $24,400. For families that have not considered supporting the levy to date, I ask that you reconsider if you are financially able to. The school will invest any short fall of funds required to ensure students are given the best resources available. We currently need to use funds from our 2019 and 2020 budgets to do this unless further additional support is received. The project is now booked in to be completed over the Christmas holidays. According to the installation company this will be the best time to assist curing and provide longevity to the surface. This is going to be a project every student will use. I look forward to its completion and to watching children use it for years to come.
