Tomorrow, Year 5/6 students will take part in the T-20 Cricket Gala day. Please remember to pack them a lunch (no lunch orders), snacks and plenty of water. Refer to the Care Monkey form for more information. Thank you to all parents who are volunteering for the day.

Sacrament of Confirmation

Some of our Galilee students will be making the Sacrament of Confirmation on this Saturday 11 November at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Middle Park at 6.00pm. All families are welcome to attend.

Summer Uniform

All students are now expected to be in full summer uniform. Hats are compulsory in Terms 4 and 1.

Policy below include items to be worn as part of Summer Uniform.

2018 Classes

A reminder any notes for Mr Millar regarding concerns for social reasons, over classroom placements of their child with another peer, must be given to him by tomorrow, Friday November 10th (including the reason). These requests will be kept confidential but there is no guarantee that all can be accommodated. Classroom placements are based upon student friendships and the needs of each individual. Teachers are yet to be given placements for 2018 and requests for teachers by parents will not be considered.

Congratulations!

The votes have been counted and the winners from the Art Show Orrchibald  People's Choice Award are...

1st Roxy's painting of Lindsey Stirling

2nd Saskia's painting of Nicole Kidman

3rd Isabella's painting of Audrey Hepburn

Congratulations girls and a great effort by all Year 5/6 students!

Prep Information Night

This Monday November 13 from 7pm, we will be hosting our Prep Information Night in the Hall. The parents will be engaging with: the Prep teachers, staff leadership, the parent Social and Fundraising Team and Camp Australia. There will be an opportunity for parents to get to know each other with wine and cheese supplied.

Festival of the Bands

On Friday the 1st December, 5pm – 7pm, the all new and exciting “galiGLEE choir” will present its first ever public performance at the Bay Street Festival.

Your children, who have been rehearsing with Anita at lunchtime on Wednesdays, have been working hard to present a full 25 minute programme of vocal music, both festive and fun. This is Galilee’s first year of joining in the festivities and the competition. Yes…COMPETITION! Many schools from our district and beyond have been signed up to compete and entertain the Port Melbourne crowd and December 1st, 2017 is our first opportunity to compete and perform.

T-Shirts are being printed as you read this and will be white with the logo above for recognition and costume.

For this fantastic opportunity to work for our school, it is important that the children and our choir are committed to this date and all of the Galilee community is encouraged and welcome to come and watch (if not compete with us!).

The cost – free! MUCH enthusiasm! Beautiful singing voices! Happy faces! Rhythm! Joy! Friendship and Fun!

Student Safety

In last week's newsletter, Donna McMaster commented on the advantages of our new netting that separates our playgrounds. We record all student accidents that require treatment. Any student who receives a knock to the head and is sent to the office, parents are always phoned. Last term during a sample THREE week period (prior to the netting), 22 students were sent to the Office after a collision or being hit by a ball during Recess or Lunchtime. After the netting has been installed, in FOUR weeks, 3 students have been sent to the Office. I congratulate the staff and students for working at making our playground a safer place for all.

Year 3 Excursion

This week the the Year Three students travelled to ACMI (The Australian Centre for the Moving Image).
