Year Six Animal Portraits

For the past term and a half, the students have been working diligently on their animal portraits. It has been a long process, taking 600-700 minutes of class time to complete.

The main understanding we've been concentrating on was learning how to use 'line' to create simple shapes, textures and actual and implied lines. Careful use of contrasting colours and techniques also assisted in developing the new concept of 'implied lines.'

Feedback from the Year Six Students

  1. The most positive thing about art was learning how to really do a good painting and just learning how relaxing painting is.
  2. We can make what we want.
  3. Seeing the end product and seeing how far I have come and how much I have improved
  4. Having the opportunity to use easels and a canvas
  5. Getting to express your feelings in your work
  6. I enjoy art this year so far because it makes me want to be an artist one day.
