Assistant Principal News

2019 has been a wonderful year of learning, growth and change at Marian Catholic College. This success culminated in our Semester and End of Year Awards Ceremonies over the last two days.

It was very pleasing to see the amount of students receiving academic and merit awards and the amount of students supporting and applauding their peers as they received their awards. This was another example of the wonderful community atmosphere here at the College.

All parents of students in Years 7-10 should now have access to their child’s reports through Compass. I have been pleased with the smooth transition to this new reporting system and the way both staff and parents have adapted so quickly. I now encourage parents to use the student report to have a reflective conversation with their child to identify successes and areas for improvement.

The MCC Leadership team have also been discussing on areas for improvement for our College for 2020. Over the last few weeks the Leaders at MCC have been meeting and discussing with members of CEDWW to decide upon our Annual Improvement Plan. This plan will address key focus areas for the College next year in the following domains - Catholic Life, Learning and Teaching, Community and WellBeing and Leadership and Stewardship. I look forward to sharing the final results of this planning with you next year.

While the students will finish their time at MCC on Monday, the staff have two more days of Professional Learning next week. The staff will engage in Professional Learning in Technology and new teaching and learning initiatives, as well as having some KLA time to plan for next year.

Next Tuesday Year 12 students will also be able to access their HSC Results. We wish students all the best for this day and for the release of the ATAR on Wednesday.

Finally, we would like to thank everyone in our College community for your support this year as we have settled into our new roles as Co-Assistant Principals. We have had a rewarding and enjoyable year and look forward to continuing this progress next year.

Yours in Learning,

Lora Segrave and Damien Herb
