Secondary Sport

QGSSSA Cross Country

Now that the QGSSSA Swimming Cup Championships are complete, our school focus will shift to Cross Country.

We strongly encourage our girls to transition from Swimming to Cross Country, so the College is just as well represented this year at the Cross Country Championships.  This is an excellent opportunity to get involved, not to mention that the benefits to your health, mind and academic success are endless.

Next week there will be a Park Run at Kalinga Park with the Café stop at Let Minnow.  All girls are invited to join in the run, so find your running shoes and come along and take up the challenge.  A reminder also that next week we will be attending our first XC warm-up meet hosted by St Aidan’s, ALL runners are encouraged to attend.  Please ensure your daughter signs up on the transport sheet located on the Croc Board by 1:30 pm Monday.

Next week's schedule is as below:

Monday          Kalinga Park – A bus is provided from the park back to the College (Girls MUST sign-up on the Croc Board by 1:30 pm on Friday)
Wednesday    St Aidan’s warm-up meet - 3:20 pm to 6:15 pm.  Full details will be on the College app and Croc Board by Friday 25 March.  Girls MUST sign-up on the Croc Board by 1:30 pm Monday.

Interhouse Cross Country

The Secondary Interhouse Cross Country Carnival is scheduled for Wednesday 20 April at Kalinga Park, being the first week back in Term 2.  Students will depart Clayfield College at 8:30 am and walk to Kalinga Park.  Events will commence from 9:15 am and conclude at around 11:30 am.  Students will then walk back to the College, have lunch, and have Lessons 4 to 6.  Further details will be sent out next week and also posted on the College app.

QGSSSA Cricket

Our final game against Ipswich Girls Grammar School will be played on Monday 28 March instead of training.  It will be great to watch our girls play and see how far they have come with all the training they have been doing over the last few weeks.  Full details will be posted on the College app and Croc Board on Friday.

QGSSSA Gymnastics

We have decided to add another mock trial on Monday 28 March, the day prior, as the PE Centre will be set up ready.  This last session will give our girls a run through in the actual competition arena and hopefully a home ground advantage on the day itself.

A condensed copy of the program is available below.

All girls are asked to ensure their leotard is fitted or purchase a new one (if need be) from the Uniform Shop.  Any further updates and the full training schedule can be found on the College app.

Autumn Fixtures

Touch

Last week our 8A and 9A teams headed to St. Peter's Fields at Indooroopilly.  Both teams played remarkably well and never stopped trying despite the strong competition. Unfortunately, we lost both games; however, our Coach Bill Szabo mentioned that there were many outstanding individuals and fantastic teamwork throughout the matches.

Keep it up girls!

Football

Clayfield had their first match against St. Peters Lutheran College last Friday at Toowong Football Club.  The intermediate team gave it their all but, unfortunately, could not secure the win this week.

Our Junior squad fought so hard and put all their training into practice.  Special mention to the goalkeepers who stopped some amazing goals!  The final score was 3-1 to St Peters Lutheran College; however, a big shout out to Isabelle Pyong, who scored our goal!
