Photography and Digital Media

YEAR 9

Students have been learning about the basics of using a camera. Students have investigated photographers Philippe Halsman and Jerry Ulsemann to examine the photographic practice and develop techniques.

Students have explored a range of different techniques such as the use of depth of field to create successful photographic compositions and have engaged in photo manipulation and experimentation using Photoshop to combine many images together.

Currently students have been exploring Jose Romussi and Maurizio Anzeri and are experimenting with stitching into photographs to alter their meaning. Students will be finishing off their first unit of work this term by creating zombie class photos, morphing photos of their classmates into zombies, which has been such a fun activity which has given students a chance to put their learning into practice.
