Year 12 VCAL News

RYDA Excursion

On Tuesday May 3rd our Year 12 VCAL students participated in the RYDA Road Safety excursion at Sandown Racecourse. The program challenged the students to change the way they think about road safety by participating in stopping distance demonstrations, devising personalised strategies, gaining an understanding of their risk profile, meeting a car crash survivor and leading an investigation into the causes of her crash. Students gained tips and strategies from road safety experts on how to protect themselves, their friends and family.

VCAL Achievement Awards

On Thursday April 28th we saw 8 of our 2021 students awarded the Intermediate Team Award (for students) at the VCAL Achievement Award Ceremony. The team were recognized for their ‘End Family Violence Now!’ community awareness project where they demonstrated their civic mindedness, conflict resolution and leadership skills. Well done Orieyo, Chanel, Kaylah, Chelsea, Soli, William, Marshall and Nathan.

Montana Veness was awarded the School Based Apprenticeship/Trainee Award at the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning Achievement Awards on Thursday April 28th. The award acknowledged her determination, dedication and commitment to her VCAL studies and Head Start auto technician apprenticeship in 2021. Thanks to her boss Con Kafetzis from Berwick Mazda for joining us at the ceremony.

We are incredibly proud of all our award winners.
