Term 1 Positive Assemblies

At the conclusion of each term, Year Level Leaders host an assembly to acknowledge the positive contributions and achievements of students. This includes:

  • 100% attendance
  • Community service
  • Extra-curricular participation
  • RGAR Points
  • Growth, effort & achievement

Students were presented with certificates and recognised in front of staff and their peers. Congratulations to all students on their accomplishments in term 1, and we look forward to celebrating further students during term 2.

Games, Clubs and Activities

There is plenty happening outside of classes for our students. Post-covid, we are committed to rebuilding strong peer relationships and connection to school. Below is the current schedule for available before school, lunch and after school games, clubs and activities.

We encourage all students to attend that are interested. RGAR points are on offer for giving anything a go! Students are encouraged to chat with their Year Level Leaders if they have any questions or to seek support from the staff that run each of the opportunities.

Be Wise, Think Carefully & Act Kindly

The Pat Cronin Foundation has a simple vision; a world free from the Coward Punch. They work to achieve this vision by providing an optimistic voice and empowering approach to awareness, education and research, working with schools, clubs, community groups and young people to end the coward punch together.

On Wednesday 25 May, CESC students will experience the Be Wise education program, introducing Pat and his story to assist creating solutions to Be Wise, Think Carefully and Act Kindly

The Foundation's experienced team of presenters and educators address the psychological, social and economic impacts of violent acts like the Coward Punch. They encourage students to reflect on attitudes and behaviours around anger and aggression and together they discuss strategies to deal with these issues personally, and as mates and bystanders.

Education presentations and programs are designed to leave participants feeling empowered to develop their own action plan to Be Wise and never use violence. The College is elated to be partnering with the Pat Cronin Foundation to provide our students with this co-curricular learning opportunity that will support them not only as adolescents, but well into their adult future.

Year 7 & 8 Immersion Day

The Year 7 and 8 Leaders have joined forces to put together an immersion day for the students of the Green Building. This will occur on Friday 27 May. All scheduled classes will be put on hold whilst students experience a day of workshops and activities centred around the themes of:

  • Positive decision making
  • Building resilience
  • Overcoming adversity
  • Teamwork
  • Connections and relationships

Students will work in their Home Groups and as a cohort through these activities. Most notable will be guest speaker, Beau Vernon. A national handcycling champion and quadriplegic surfer, Beau's story continues to inspire all that hear it. In 2012, his life changed forever after a normal incident, in a normal game of Aussie rules football, left Beau a quadriplegic, never able to use his legs or hands again. He instantly went from a 23 year old who never sat still, to spending 8 months in hospital and looking at the prospect of spending my life in a wheelchair. Rather than let limitations define him, Beau has spent the every year since relentlessly pursuing self-improvement and challenging every boundary put before him.

More details about the day will be made available in the coming weeks, with the schedule posted on Compass.

Year 8 Camp

Year 8 Camp to Licola Wilderness Village was scheduled for Wed 11 - Fri 13 May. Due to circumstances out of our control, the camp is required to be postponed. The reason for the change is a lack of camp staff and outdoor education instructors due to impact of covid and competing availability in seasonal work. Despite the College offering to send additional staff, the camp is unable to go ahead at this time.

Rest assured we are committed to running Year 8 Camp. Dates have re-booked for the final week of Term 3, Mon 12 - Wed 14 September. The Compass Event will be reviewed and permissions sought for the new date. All students with a current place on camp have this secured. There are some places available for students wishing to attend camp, but these are limited.

Whilst we are disappointed we cannot attend this term, staff are very much looking forward to facilitating camp next term. The Year 8 Leaders will be working together to identify other opportunities at school for co-curricular activities for students to look forward to.
