It has been an extremely busy two weeks in Physical Education and Sport. Below are highlights of what has been happening.

Congratulations Lexi Betinsky (6/5)

Last week, Lexi attended the Regional trials for the School Sport Victoria Under 12 Basketball team. Impressing the selectors, Lexi will now be attending the last selection stage for the State team. This will be held during the school holidays; wishing Lexi all the best.

Congratulations Cooper Watson (6/7)

Yesterday, Cooper attended the "Showcase" selection trials for the School Sport Victoria Under 12 Football team. Over the last month, Cooper has progressed through the last two selection trials to reach this stage. Cooper will find out later today if he has been selected (from the last 42 players) for the State Team. An amazing achievement by Cooper regardless if he makes the team or not.

Special thanks to the Year 6 teachers who have coached the teams throughout the term.

Year 2 Tennis Clinic

Through the Sporting Schools funding, the Year 2 students have been enjoying a tennis clinic run by Langwarrin Tennis Club Headcoach, Peter Taylor. The students have thoroughly enjoyed the first two sessions of the four-session clinic. Peter has provided the students with simple drills and activities to develop their footwork and hand-eye coordination through basic striking skills.

Foundation and Year 1 PMP

Perceptional Motor Program (PMP) is a A PREVENTATIVE program that aims to develop the child’s:

Perceptions and understandings of him/herself in his/her world through movement and motor experiences.

•Aims to develop perceptions of time and space, pattern and order and limitations of the human body.

•Confidence to manipulate themselves to suit their best interests.

Every Monday afternoon, the Foundation students have been involved in the Perceptional Motor Program (PMP), whilst the Year 1 students have been participating in the program every Tuesday afternoon.

This program relies on the support of parents/helpers to supervise the activities. There have been a number of Year 1 parents who have assisted with the program on a Tuesday afternoon, however, there has been minimal support from the Foundation parents. To ensure this program continues in Semester Two, assistance is required by Parents/Helpers.

If you are able to help in Semester Two, please touch base with the classroom teacher.
