Assistant Principal's Report

WOW! What a busy couple of weeks we have had! Our students have engaged in some pretty exciting events!

MEGA Celebration Day

Kaboom Sports

On Wednesday the 15th of June, our students had an action-packed day with Kaboom Sports. Students were in multi-aged groups and rotated around a series of crazy activities. We couldn't have been prouder of our students for their display of respect, resilience, and sportsmanship throughout the day. Our senior school students were exceptional in being role models to the younger students and ensured everyone in their team got to experience each activity.

Art Show

On Wednesday evening, OPPS hosted its first-ever Art Show. All students had three pieces of work on display, and to say the room looked incredible would be an understatement! It was so wonderful to see so many of our families coming through and celebrating the phenomenal artworks our students have produced throughout Semester One. We also couldn't be more grateful to Mrs Searles, who spent countless hours setting up the show, ensuring all students could locate their work, and ensuring this event was a success overall. Check out some of the fantastic work!

Responsible Pet Incursion

On Friday the 10th of June, our Prep, Year 1, and Year 2 students participated in the Responsible Pet Ownership program. The students learned all about living safely with dogs and what responsible pet ownership looks like. Students discussed when it is safe to approach a dog and how to meet and greet a real dog safely. Students then practised greeting a friendly German Shepard named Leica.

Spark Buck Cooking Class

As you may be aware, when students at OPPS demonstrate our values of Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Safety, they can earn a 'Spark Buck'. Students save their bucks, and each Thursday, we open the Spark Buck Prize Shop, where students can purchase a prize of their choice. Our prizes range in value. One of our more expensive prizes (50 Spark Bucks) is a cooking class! We had seven students who consistently demonstrated our school values and saved up to purchase this reward. Together we made a 'no-bowl slice'. Students loved the opportunity to work in pairs, measure ingredients, assemble the slice and of course, taste test!

At home, why not have a conversation with your child about how many spark bucks they have earned and what prize they are saving up to purchase!

Sovereign Hill Excursion

We have one final event coming up this term: our year 3-6 excursion to Sovereign Hill on Wednesday 22nd of June. Our years 3-6 students are extremely excited to explore Sovereign Hill indoors, outdoors, above-ground, and below-ground while attending a Red Hill mine tour and Gold Pour demonstration!

Please ensure that you have paid and given permission on Compass for your child to attend. Students will need to arrive at 7:15 am for a strictly 7:30 am departure for this event
