RUGBY – MELBOURNE STORM vs MANLY SEA EAGLES GAME

Rugby Excursion for our Oz Tag players.

On Thursday 26 May , 10 students from our Oz Tag team in term 1 and their Dad’s/Grandpa’s/uncles came along to the Melbourne Storm vs Manly Sea Eagles Rugby League game at AAMI Stadium.

We met at Cheltenham station and travelled in on the train to meet our Storm helper who gave us our instructions for our half time game and seating area. We settled in to watch the first half of the game engulfing hot chips, dim sims, soft drink and hot dogs!!

At half time the students and I made our way on to the ground where we were lucky enough to have a small modified game of rugby passing and running against another school with the 10,000 people crowd looking upon us. The kids loved it and we smashed the other school- needless to say the other school had some very young players and we certainly out skilled them.

We then moved across the field to form a guard of honour for all the rugby players as they ran on the field to start the second half. This was the highlight for all of us and some of our kids even high fived the players.

A great fun night where students were given the opportunity to run on the ground and play in front of a crowd and also watch a game that is quite unfamiliar to many kids. It was great to see a game of varied League rules and watch the players pass down the line and score a try.

Thanks to all the parents for joining in on the experience, having a laugh and making the night run seamlessly.

Special thanks to Adrian Basil (Liam’s Dad) for giving our school the opportunity to be involved.

Kids Helping Kids

The PE teachers in our District are helping out a colleague who is donating used football boots to a not-for-profit charity called Teamsports4all. If you have any boots that are too small or too big and you would like to donate please drop at the PE office over the next few weeks.

All boots will go from your kids to kids who need a pair of boots to be a part of a team.
