Principal's Report

Dear families,

The term is certainly slipping past and the cold and wet weather appears to be here to stay. Please ensure that students are dressed for the conditions and are in school uniform each day. You will find the details of the Uniform items available through our front office later in this newsletter.

As the COVID -19 restrictions have been reduced, we are now able to welcome families back onto the school grounds. If you would like to enter the grounds to deliver and collect your child/ren to and from school, we ask that you wait outside buildings and are mindful of maintaining a physical distance where possible. The wearing of masks is still strongly recommended. As always, if you or your children are unwell please do not attend school.

You may have read about the state government’s initiative to provide a $100 discount on both the 2022 and 2023 Materials and Services Charge. I am pleased to provide you with a letter signed by the Premier and the Minister for Education, Skills and Training. The letter provides additional information about the initiative.

You can access the letter via this link: www.education.sa.gov.au/sites/default/files/letter-from-premier-and-minister-materials-services-charges-7-june-2022.pdf

You don’t need to do anything at this stage. We will be processing the discount or rebate as a matter of priority, however there are preparations that we need to make. We will provide you with additional information shortly.

As a result of an audit of some of our procedures in OSHC, we have recently been communicating directly with families that are enrolled with our service to ensure that their enrolment details are accurate and that we hold all medical plans, medicines and associated procedures to ensure the service meets compliance against the standards required by the regulatory body. Thank you to the families that have responded to our request for information. Unfortunately, we are unable to have children attend the service without a response and, where necessary, additional information.

As a result of staff being on leave, like many industries and services, at times we are experiencing staff shortages which impact on our ability to offer a service. We understand that this creates difficulties for families and we provide as much notice as possible when this situation arises.

We are currently exploring our ability to staff the upcoming Vacation Care program.

To those families affected, we will be in contact shortly to confirm whether we are able to offer this program. In the event that we are not able to offer a Vacation program, we are looking at the potential to organise alternate arrangements. We will keep you informed.

Thank you for your support and understanding as we work towards ensuring our service meets compliance and have staff in place.

Regards

Terena Pope
