The Principal's Desk

Dear parents, families and friends,
It has been a big two weeks of school, particularly the last week with the Mother's Day store, Mother's Day Breakfast and our Open Day. I thank all parents for monitoring their children and using the Rapid Antigen Tests regularly. There are some Covid cases being detected in our community, but there has been quite an increase in colds, coughs, flus and gastro.
Open Day
On Saturday 7th May we held our Open Day to promote the school to the wider community by invited families to visit our school, have a tour of the facilities, meet the staff, students and parents, join in art and sport activities and have a coffee and sausage sizzle. We feel the day was a success with 14 families visiting us between 12pm and 3pm. We hope that these visits can generate new Prep enrolments for 2023 and 2024 as well as enrolments in other year levels. The Open Day could not have been a success without the hard work and assistance of so many volunteers. Thank you to Tess Coyne, Lucy McNamara, Evonne Madden, Roslyn Moloney, Michelle Lewinsohn, Danielle Reilly, Erin O'Donnell, Anna Tucceri- Cimini, Marc EnglishAdam & Day Emmerton, Elly Murray, Mel Farrell, Ben Piskor, Emily Granland, Paul reilly, Mandy Sutherland, Kathryn Sutherland, Sonia Kohli, Lisa Cheatly, Vince Cosentino, Daniel Petroni, Selina Wattie, Jacqui Durrand, Nicole Grass, Tina Nguyen, Kate Drane, Stacey Allen, Neroli Scott and Marina Scaffidi. Also a big thank you to all our students who volunteered their time to be at school on Saturday, especially the School Choir and Band Ensemble. I was amused to see that the students were so excited to be wearing their school uniform and be at school on a Saturday.
Sand Pit Progress
The timber was delivered for our sandpits. Frank and myself needed to move it into storage until the sandpits are built this weekend. Damien Thaus and his father will be building the sandpits this weekend.
Mother's Day Breakfast
Our Mother's Day Breakfast was a great success. Once again we had a huge turn out and an absolutely beautiful and delicious spread. Thank you to everyone who assisted, particularly Tina Nguyen who managed the organisation, preparation and running of the day. You can view photos from the Mother's Day Breakfast on the School Community page.
NCCD
Parents, please read the attached letter below regarding the National Collection of Consistent Data which occurs each year in August.
Sorry Day & Reconciliation Week
National Sorry Day is Thursday 26th May. This leads into National Reconciliation Week from friday 27th May until Friday 3rd June. Starting on National sorry Day and then continuing through National reconciliation Week we will run a number of activities to raise awareness and explore how we can 'Be Brave Make Change' in our community.
Naplan 2022
This week we completed the first week of Naplan. All of the tests; Reading, Language Conventions, Year 5 Writing and Numeracy were conducted online. The Year 3 Writing test was the only pencil and paper test this year. Next week we will hold catch up sessions for any Year 3 and Year 5 students that have been absent this week.
School Athletics Carnival
Next Friday 20th May we will have our annual athletics carnival. We look forward to seeing as many family members attend as possible. Our regular Wednesday coffee van will be onsite to provide beverages and snacks. We hope and prayer for good weather, as I know that the students are very excited about the day.
Have a good week. I hope to see as many of you as possible on Friday at the Athletics Carnival.
Kind regards,
Matthew Stead
Principal
