Junior Learning Community
The Junior Learning Community have been exploring weather and news reports this term. Our junior news reporters have been live on the scene as we have experienced torrential storms one week and brilliant sunny weather the next! The Junior Learning Community have shown the school values of kindness by working together in small group performances that are inclusive of all students. They have been building on their improvisation skills and using their creativity to present their own Wollert Primary School News segments to their class. We have had news reports on the new Canteen opening, Ultimate Frisbee reviews and what the best areas of the school are to play in when the sun is shining!
Middle Learning Community
The Middle Learning Community have been busy exploring their senses through fidget and sensory tools in preparation for scripting and presenting their own advertisements which will link into the Zones of Regulation. The students will be building on their drama skills and incorporating media arts this term. It has been wonderful to see the students showing the school values of being brilliant and curious through how engaged they have been in their learning.
Senior Learning Community
The Senior Learning Community have been working collaboratively on small group performances this term. The students are using their strengths and interests to create a short drama performance. The students have shown how adaptable they are by working together through their differences and demonstrating their problem-solving capabilities.
We have had an excellent start to Term 4!
This Term we have welcomed our new class pets, a pair of Spiny Leaf Stick Insects. These interesting insects are native to Australia and range from New South Wales to Queensland in the wild. They live in eucalyptus trees and eucalyptus leaves are their native food. They have adapted their bodies to resemble dried leaves to help camouflage them from prey.
What are their names?
We received a lot of very interesting name suggestions from our students! Last week Leanne pulled 2 name suggestions out of a hat and we now have our official names!
Rosey (suggested by Lavisha in 1/2B) and Leafy (suggested by Iman in 3/4A)
We will continue to learn about our stick insect pets over the coming weeks and watch them grow and change.
PREP & JUNIOR LEARNING COMMUNITY
We have hit the ground dancing this term in Physical Education! Prep and Junior Learning Community students have been developing their physical movement skills by following basic dance routines on our mega screen in the gym. The students had so much fun with this unit and were able to show off some really impressive dance moves! The Preps and Junior Learning Community are also taking part in an Ultimate Frisbee Clinic for a few weeks this term. They have been able to play games with the frisbees and learn the correct technique for throwing them. They have been amazed at how much enjoyment one plastic disc can provide!
MIDDLE & SENIOR LEARNING COMMUNITIES
Term four is set to be an exciting last term in Physical Education for our Middle and Senior Learning Communities! We have started the term with a fun and engaging Netball clinic run by Lauren and Lexi, the amazing coaches from the Northern Football Netball League. The clinic is set to run for three weeks and so far the students have been exposed to the many skills and rules involved in the sport. They have become familiar with the types of passes and positions used in a match and have been able to put their new skills to the test in some guided match practice. The students are loving the opportunity to learn a sport that the majority have never played or even heard about before, there could even be some future stars among the group!
