JAYcee's CANTEEN Update

Our first sample of school canteen life has started very positively. Our students are enjoying the novelty of being able to order their lunch on Thursday and having it delivered to them in their classrooms.  We have also trialled over the counter sales during lunch and recess. This has been a big hit with our students learning independence and the value of money while purchasing treats that appeal to them. Over counter sale items range from 50c through to $5.00 for a fresh tub of fruit salad. Many of the items JAYCees offer are homemade and healthier options for our children.

A canteen counter sales price list will be sent through via Compass this week for your reference, alongside details about how to place a lunch order if you haven't already done so. Some sample items are below.

The JAYcee's Team will be managing lunch counter sales but we will be calling on parent volunteers to assist in recess sales in the coming weeks. Please keep a look out for the opportunity to volunteer in our canteen through a link on Compass soon.

 UPDATE

We have two School Council Meetings left for the 2022 School Year. This Wednesday 2nd November we will meet to discuss 2023 Parent Payments, Book Pack Orders and other operational needs to prepare for the 2023 school year. Any necessary communication with our community as a result of this School Council will be shared in the days following.

Our final School Council Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 30th November 2022.

TEAM KIDS

Day Programs and Holiday Programs confirmed

Aspa and Elise from Team Kids (Our Before and After School Program) have settled well into their new  space in the River Red Gum Sport & Performing Arts Centre.  Our multi-purpose room has been transformed into an energising and inviting environment that our students are thoroughly enjoying.

If you are requiring care for your children on the upcoming Professional Practice Day on WEDNESDAY 16th NOVEMBER, the Team Kids team would be happy to assist.

Team Kids are also running a summer TEAM KIDS HOLIDAY PROGRAM which will begin on Monday 9th January and continue all the way through to Friday 27th January. If you are interested in your children attending some or all of the great planned activities, get in touch with Aspa and the team. Keep a look out for the monthly Team Kids Newsletter also which is delivered to families via Compass.

CURRICULUM DAY and PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE DAY

Monday our students were at home to support our Reporting Curriculum Day. Staff used this valuable time to deep dive into the assessment they have collected on your child as part of their Learning Story. Assessment is the bridge between our teaching and a child's demonstrated learning. Trying to understand every child's learning needs by identifying their strengths and their next point of learning is the fundamental purpose of assessment, as well as providing feedback on how successful our teaching has been. You can trust that our staff are using this time well so that our Learning Story Conferences and Semester 2 Reports provide great insight into your child as a learner. The Department of Education provide several Professional Practice Days (PPDs) for teachers  to support their work each year. This day is on Wednesday 16th November and will be again used to deepen our assessment and learning approach. Students will not attend school on this day either.
