ROSS FAGAN SHILED- FIRST XV GAME
This weekend at Oxford Falls sees our mighty First XV Rugby team take on powerhouse St Aloysius in the battle for the ‘Ross Fagan Shield’. Both teams will be wearing their school’s indigenous jerseys, recognising the importance and encouragement of ongoing reconciliation in our communities. Senior Football
Congratulations to our 1st XI Football who had a dominant 9-0 win over Hills Grammar in the NSWCIS Cup and now progress to the Quarter Finals, they backed this up with a hard fought 2-0 win over St Spyridon’s on the weekend. It was great to see so many teams be able to get out and play on Saturday when across Sydney there had been so many cancellations due to weather.
There are also great reports from our Internal Colour competition with a fantastic game, a topsy turvy game resulting in an amazing 8-5 scoreline.

ISA Tennis
Our 2022 season is now well and truly in fully swing. All teams fought valiantly with some great rallies, hard-won points and nail-biting tie-breakers. Overall, our Divisions 8, 9 and 10 team came away with impressive victories.
A special mention goes to our Division 6 players who evened in sets but lost marginally in games. Congratulations goes to Matthew Lee and Oliver Costain who made a fantastic double pairing this week!
Please see the draw below for this weekend.
Mrs Veronica Bamber - ISA Tennis Convenor
Winter Squash
SPX 1 had a tough battle at our Willoughby home courts with Falcons coming out on top. We were able to win a few games but were not consistent enough to secure victory. It was a similar story with the seconds, who also went close by winning a few games against Barker seconds at Thornleigh. SPX3 met tough opposition in an early morning match at Knox. Our Year 12’s (SPX 4) also tried hard against Briars, however, have identified some areas for us to focus on at training this week.
The draw for the full season is available on:

Training continues Wednesday afternoons and Round 3 matches this Saturday.
Mr Justin Varjavandi - Winter Squash Convenor

Ms Janelle Dempsey & Ms Denise Ramsey - Chess Convenor
Cross Country
A squad has been selected to represent St Pius X at the ISA Selection Carnival next Wednesday 25 May. The runners will complete various distances around the Sydney Equestrian Centre at Horsley Park.
Many have prepared consistently under the tutelage of Dom Pannozzo and Matt North, our external coaches. We wish the team well and hope they are rewarded for their efforts over the training season.
Training will continue on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 7.15 am at Beauchamp Park, Chatswood for the next few weeks as runners prepare for the CIS Carnival on Wednesday 8 June. All runners are welcome to continue training, regardless of selection for IPSHA / ISA.

5.00 pm – 5.40 pm move your bags to The Blue Room (Chess may still be running which means we need to be silent entering the Blue Room) and then go over to Westfield to buy your dinner with your mates.
5.45 pm be back in The Blue Room to sign on if you are debating.
5.45 pm – 6.00 pm stay in the Little Brother area of the school until 6.00 pm coin toss. Do not go exploring around the school. NO FOOD OR DRINK TO BE TAKEN INTO THE BLUE ROOM
6.00 pm coin toss in the The Blue Room.
6.00 pm – 7.00 pm (approx) one hour prep time.
7.00 pm - 8.15 pm debates take place. Parents who want to watch a debate should arrive at around 7.00 pm. Most debaters should be ready to be collected by 8.00 pm. Of course, the seniors can run late, but the junior teams should be away by 8.00 pm.
All debaters will need to meet at the clock after our Sports Assembly every Friday to collect the RUN SHEET for that evening’s debate.
Names are marked off at each training session and attendance will contribute to team selection.
