Push Ups for Mental Health

Watch this space as Year 9 and our Student Leadership Team, under Mr Golligly’s guidance, lead our participation in the Push Ups for Better Mental Health Initiative through June. The activity will see push ups accrued collectively before school at 8.30 am, in practical PDHPE and PASS classes, and after school in extra or co-curricula time. The maximum goal is 3139 push ups over 24 days but there are sub goals and targets to be achieved through the program.

Please encourage your son to be involved and consider joining the push up challenge.

85th Concert Volunteers

It was a great celebration of our Performing Arts last night and we thank all those who contributed to this hugely successful event, including those senior students who acted as welcome ushers and distributed programs as our guests arrived to the event.

Year 12 Social Afternoon with Brigidine College

We look forward to our Year 12 students having the opportunity to coordinate with their Brigidine Year 12 students at Oxford Falls for a social afternoon. Friday 3 June remains our date as proposed by Brigidine College so please stay tuned for confirmation and to support this event. If successful we look forward to proposing a similar event for Year 11 later in the year.

Anti-bullying stand

It is timely to remind all of our students, as we approach the middle of our Term 2 activities, and after returning from two disjointed years of learning, of our strengths as a school focused on being an inclusive community with due respect for everyone we encounter. To this end our Year 12 Student Leadership Team are currently invigorating our Student Empowerment Teams across the year groups to ensure student voice and efficacy for everyone in our community to effect positive change.

With the Peer Support Program reaching its conclusion this term, our Peer Mentoring buddies met for morning tea on Tuesday to consolidate Mr Russo’s superb program. Over the coming terms students should stay tuned for information about an Activities afternoon, Beach Walk / Paddle Board and Bushwalk as part of the program.

Representative Honours

Best wishes to the following students who are on representative duties this week:

Nicholas Gladen: competing in the National Swimming Championships in South Australia;

John Carroll and Chris Dimos: competing in the National Gymnastics competition in Queensland.

We wish all the students who are representing the College and participating in cocurricula activities to complement their learning, well. This weekend we particularly  look forward to supporting the Reconciliation Ceremony at 3.00 pm at Oxford Falls before the 1st XV match vs St Aloysius at Oxford Falls this Saturday. Likewise our 1st XI Football have an exciting CIS Cup fixture over the coming weeks. Stay tuned.

Singing Up Country

We are looking forward to contributing to this event which is part of the Gaimarigal Festival 2022. Professor Dennis Foley will be talking in the afternoon about the significance of Kieran’s Creek to the Cammeraygal people and the work of St Anthony’s Land Care group to which some our students have contributed CIP hours over recent years. The Music Festival of First Nations Musicians from 4.00 pm - 8.00 pm is not to be missed.

Any students who might be able to assist with setting up and supporting the event should contact Mr Brannan ASAP in support of our working RAP.  Please see the attached flyer for more information.

Mercy College Careers Expo

Year 9 - 12 students are reminded of the upcoming Careers Expo on Monday 7 June to be held at Mercy College from 3.00 pm - 5.00 pm. Please see the flier below or see Ms Coombe or Mr Brannan if you would like further information, or to register.

Old Boys' AGM

The SPX OBA will hold its AGM tonight from 6.00 pm in the Sarto Centre (Corner Anderson and Daisy St Chatswood, just up the road from the school and adjacent to the new Learning Hub being built 39-41 Anderson St).
