Principal's Page

Welcome to another issue of the newsletter. As the weeks are passing by so quickly, the weather is certainly turning more wintery! I am noticing that there are a number of students coming into the office first thing in the morning looking for jumpers. With icy mornings, and warmer afternoons there are a lot of jumpers being left around the grounds, so it's a good time to check that names are clearly on all items. If you are in need of extra uniform, but finding things a little tough, please come and see the office and we can work something out.

Education Week extravaganza!

Next week we have a number of activities planned to celebrate Education week. Fliers have gone home, and more information is in the 'Things to Know' page, but it would be great to see as many of you as possible at the open night (where there is a special scavenger hunt planned!)

NAPLAN

Congratulations to the Year 3 and 5 students who have completed their NAPLAN assessments. This can be a challenge for many students, and often can be the first time students sit assessments under 'exam conditions'. I was so impressed with the confidence and positive attitude of the students, and they all worked hard to complete assessments to the best of their ability. A big thankyou to the teachers who helped to coordinate everything, and prepare the students so well.

Changes to Rapid Antigen Testing

Schools will continue to provide families with RATs for the remainder of Term 2, however the recommendation for twice weekly testing has been replaced with a recommendation to only test when symptomatic. RATs are also required to be used for 5 days if a student or staff member is a close contact of a confirmed case and they are attending or working at school.

With winter bugs out in the air, there have been a lot of students with cold-like symptoms. They may well not be Covid, but as a school we are still directed to contact parents if a student presents with covid symptoms. I can completely understand that this can be frustrating to recieve a call during the day, but we are still following covid-safe practices and need to be vigilant to make the school as safe as we can. If your child is sick or unwell, please do not send them to school.

Enrolments for 2022

It has been lovely to show prospective families around the school during tours in the last few weeks, and we are looking forward to more coming up. With the deadline for future enrolments coming up soon, I encourage you to put in enrolment forms if you have a child starting at Launching Place in 2023. If you know of anyone considering Launch as their child's school for 2023, please encourage them to book a tour, I would love to show them around our amazing school!

Colour Run

I announced at assembly last week that we are planning a Colour Run fundraiser in the second last week of term. These are fantastic events, and such a fun day for the whole school community. More information will be out soon in regards to this event, but keep June 17 in your diary!

Student Free Day - May 30

Just a reminder that we will be having a student free day on Monday 30th May to allow teachers to have their Professional Practice Day. Last week I sent out a detailed explanation as to why we were having a second student free day this term, so hopefully that cleared up any confusion or questions. As always, please let me know if you have any queries.

Have a wonderful week, and I look forward to seeing you through Education Week!

Take care,

Jess
