Student Musings on Remote Learning

Reflections from the Senior School

As we are now at the end of the second week back on site with our Senior School students, it has been great to receive such positive feedback about their transition back to school. I am so pleased that their experience has been a success and I am proud of the resilient and focused attitude our students have displayed. Below are a few reflections from our students

I have found being back at school really beneficial, I find I now have a structure and separation between school (learning) and home (relaxation), which was hard to find while doing online school. I have thoroughly enjoyed having the group activities, just to have a bit of time to get into the swing of things again, from the drastic changes and reconnecting with teachers and friends. Catching up on work has probably been the toughest thing for me personally. I hope the music from the students’ playlists at the beginning of school can continue as it was inviting and made for a more positive feel coming in. Also, I love no bells as I feel a sense of independence, getting me ready for life after high school.

The last couple of weeks back at school has been very refreshing, especially being able to reconnect with friends and teachers in a new way. It was lovely to have the teachers there to welcome us back as soon as we walked through the gates on our first day back which led into our reconnection time on the quad as a sub-school, which gave us a great opportunity to catch up and take a breather before getting right back into school work and assessment tasks. We loved the iPod shuffle on the quad which made the atmosphere each lunchtime so enjoyable and relaxed, coinciding with the chilled nature of the new no bell policy and the lack of other year levels around the school.

While it’s been tough having to push through a number of SACs coming back from online learning and the stress that comes with that, it has been great catching up with all my friends and being able to play down ball again. Also, I have appreciated being able to focus on my study inside a classroom and to have access to my teachers and more learning resources again.

Being back at school has been a great chance to catch up with friends and reconnect with the teachers after a long period of time at home. It was lovely being welcomed back on the first day to games and music on the quad and the recent class activities has eased the pressure of returning back to school. Although there has been plenty of SAC’s to catch up on, I’m pleased to be caught up on all my work and excited for the whole school to be back soon.

RSC Green Team - Finalists in the Sustainability Victoria Resource Smart School Awards for 2020!

The RSC Green Team were finalists in the Sustainability Victoria Resource Smart School Awards for 2020! The awards were held remotely on Friday 5 June and the Green Team were invited into the College to join Mrs Godfrey and Mr Phillips for a celebration of their success – whether they won or not.

The Green Team were in the running for Victorian Secondary School Action Team of the Year and Mrs Godfrey for Sustainable Teacher of the Year.

Unfortunately, they were not successful this year, but that will only motivate Mrs Godfrey and the Green Team to continue their environmental efforts for another year.

It was wonderful to have the opportunity to reconnect with each other in the Green Team and even last year’s Year 12 prefect, Ebony Llewellyn, and share in a planning discussion for the next 12 months!

The Green Team are a wonderful group to work with and if you feel like you want to participate in RSC’s environmental actions, please email Mrs Godfrey jgodfrey@ringwoodsc.vic.edu.au. The door is always open and there is always plenty to do, for all year levels! Start typing your article in here
