The CSEF (Camps Sports and Excursions Fund) applications have been processed for 2020. If you had already applied at the College last year, it has already been done, you do not need to do anything, and no further action is required.

If you are now an eligible Centrelink Health Care Card holder (HCC must be current on 14 April 2020, 1st day Term 2) and/or new to the College and have not completed the application, please do so and return to the College no later than Friday 24th July.

The Way Forward

These thoughtful words from Arianna Huffington, Founder and CEO of Thrive Global frame capture my thoughts moving forward.

Nothing should go back to normal.

Normal wasn’t working.

If we go back to the way things were, we will have lost the lesson.

May we rise up and do better.

The process of returning to school will look a bit different for all, so we need to be mindful of the different contexts and experiences that lie ahead. Working collaboratively to navigate the plan for the reconnection and reengagement of students and staff into classes and subjects has been a collaborative and extensive supportive documented process.

The procedure of returning to school as a whole community will look a bit different, so we need to be mindful of the different contexts and experiences that lie ahead. Collaboratively, our staff have created and navigated a thoughtful plan for the reconnection and reengagement of students and staff into classes and subjects.

Our environment is still facing significant challenges and changes so, it is understandable that many people will be anxious and nervous about future life. What is important is the ‘moving forward’ and our ‘understanding of the past’ to guide our future. As we transition to the ‘new normal’ we will experience some ‘ups and downs’ that will challenge our norms and expectations but will provide new opportunities and behaviours to thrive.

RSC has launched a new wellbeing website and supporting documents have been placed onto Compass primarily aimed to support all students’, staff and parents. Please ensure you access information and seek support if necessary. Supporting our wellbeing is essential and over this challenging period health practitioners and researchers have co created interesting and helpful resources.

  • Allow for space and time to acknowledge that things are not exactly as they were before, and changes may continue for a while yet.
  • Help people understand that feeling negative emotions is a normal response to stressful experiences.
  • Normalise the challenge of this time by reminding each other that we are all experiencing and navigating these changes together and that we usually adapt to change in a positive way.
  • Identify and use our ‘signature strengths’ to helps us feel more energised, engaged, and happier.
  • Look for opportunities to increase your positive emotions. Using the ‘Broaden and Build Theory’ (Fredrickson, B) we can increase our ability to think and act in creative and flexible ways,
  • Share accomplishments and stories.
  • Show gratitude. Be grateful of the small things and appreciate the good things so ‘hunt the good stuff’.
  • Be mindful of and look out for the vulnerable, who have suffered greatly during this pandemic,  from financial hardship to the loss of loved ones.

I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone for your perseverance and collaboration and in navigating the past few months in such a positive enlightening way. Despite this adversity we have risen to the challenge and no doubt will be much stronger for it! Be proud of what of you have achieved.

Enjoy the long weekend with your family and friends!
