From the Principal

Firstly a huge and unreserved THANK YOU to our amazing Baimbridge College Community.

Our values of Courage, Pride and Respect were absolutely on display each and every day this term which fills myself and our staff with a warm and fuzzy feeling. Well done!!

We have now finally come to the end of what feels like the longest school term on record. That being said, it has been amazing to see the collective support of the community including parents helping at home, students making the most of the opportunity and teachers doing their very best to teach in an unfamiliar online environment. I am extremely proud of our teachers, admin staff, support staff, our amazing students and families that have worked so hard to get through this challenging time.

It was great to see Penelope Tutt who is suffering from a serious illness visit the school this week and catch up with some of her friends. She has been able to get back on her horse recently with some help and is eagerly awaiting the arrival of a new dog to support her during her upcoming treatment and hospital visits.

We have also this week become aware that a much loved teacher in Lisa Guegan-Brown has been diagnosed with cancer and has a tough fight ahead. Lisa had left us to explore working in remote communities with Gilly when Covid -19 hit causing border closures. She then took up a contract position at Sunbury Secondary College teaching home economics only to be diagnosed with the illness. We are all thinking of Lisa and hope to see her when her health allows. Students were today informed and will plan to do some fundraising for both Penelope and Lisa in the future. Health issues do not discriminate and as we have said to our students, “please stay positive and make the most of every single day”.

Next term we welcome Paul Churchill to our P.E/Health and Math departments and welcome his family back to Hamilton. We would also like to acknowledge and thank Emma Rusden for her relief teaching with us over the past 3 weeks in the Health and P.E areas. Emma has a range of skills in teaching health as well as counselling and we hope to see her back again on the completion of her second University degree.

Family and friends are incredibly important to all of us and especially at this time when our movements are limited and a hidden virus is taking our most vulnerable and causing chaos to our daily routines. I encourage everyone to have a much needed rest and return to school ready for our 4 year review, ramping up of demolition and building works and a re-focus on making the most of teaching and learning every day.

Thank you again and have a well-earned break.
