Online learning was an interesting time for Music students, meaning more interaction with digital music-making, rather than the use of physical instruments. Students explored the creation of their first digital music through Chrome Music Lab, recreating the Star Wars theme by John Williams. It was a tough challenge, but students put their creative minds to work and made some excellent arrangements.
Now back in the classroom, students are exploring orchestral instruments and learning some classic Bach on the keyboard and guitar. Students have been very excited to be exploring their favourite instruments again.
Year 7 Japanese have been learning about food culture in Japan, while expanding their language skills. Students have been learning to ask questions about menu items and how to order in Japanese - a valuable skill for any future travellers.
Students have also been learning about 'fake food' in Japan. Sampuru (サンプル) is the use of fake food, to display menu items outside restaurants and cafes. It has an incredible likeness and allows customers to know exactly what they will be ordering. Year 7 explored the different types of food available in Japan, before making their own Sampuru out of clay. Learning about food in Japan this term has left many mouths watering!
