From the Principal's Desk

Returning to full time face to face teaching has been wonderful for our staff and students and I am pleased to announce that with updated health advice the majority of school based activities will recommence, if not this term, at the beginning of Term 3. 

I encourage parents to read the Face to Face Learning Guidelines for Families 2020 which I have included in this newsletter. It is important to acknowledge that we need to be vigilant with the advice from NSW Health, especially as they relate to adults and we need to adhere to the condition that non- essential visitors, which includes parents and carers, not come onto school grounds unless they have organised an interview. 

Our parent teacher evenings will be over the phone as we are keen to continue communication with our parent body about the progress of our students.

Students also need to keep up with their attention to hygiene. We continue to use sanitiser in the secondary rooms and library, whilst primary classes are regularly washing hands with soap and water. Additional cleaning also continues to be maintained and I would like to thank our cleaners for the amazing effort they have done to ensure we are complied with the advice from NSW Health. 

I am currently working with representatives from the Department of Education to determine the viability of before, after and vacation care at Molong Central School. The first step in this process is to survey our community and I have included a copy of the survey in this newsletter.  Interested parents and carers can complete the survey by using this link https://forms.gle/VmfHHxHLcR2fc5Vs6 to a Google form. If you are unable to use the link please contact the school who will be able to send the survey home as a paper copy, for you to complete and return to the school. 

I am also very excited to inform our community that work will commence on the Well- being Hub which should be up and running before the end of the year. This will also be supported by a full time Student Support Officer. I am very excited about this resource for our school community and look forward to reporting on the progress as work begins next term.

I have discussed the opportunity for our students to complete White Card training and Year 10 will have the option of completing  work experience at the end of Term 4. This week, I hope to negotiate with our external providers,  to see dance and drama groups start up again after school and I no doubt will have teachers looking forward to planning extra-curricular activities for our students. Our Year 12 students will be excited to know that a graduation will be able to go ahead and that planning will begin at the start of Term 3. Our school photographs will also be taken in August, so things are moving along quite well in terms of normal operations.

Earlier in the week, I was delighted to catch up with a number primary classes. 1/2 Blue were learning about Dreamtime stories and the role connections play in our life with Mrs Harbison. The students were so proud of their work. In 1/2 Gold with Mrs Schaefer, the students demonstrated outstanding independent learning skills in small groups. 3/4 White with Mrs Sullivan were learning about Big Ben through drawing and 5/6 Ruby with Mrs Quinn were also engaged in small groups and working hard on their literacy skills. Miss Rutherford was working with several students, developing research and questioning skills. It was a fabulous way to spend the morning and I am very appreciative of the way our staff have reengaged students since returning.
