Pastoral Care News

Congratulations to 9:4 and their homeroom teacher Miss Sarah Covell for raising an amazing $210.05 as part of our term 1 activity “BEE KIND”. As a school community we raised over $2000 which is an amazing effort considering we ended the activity sooner than anticipated due to the impact of the Corona virus.

Our donations are currently being finalised and we will include full details in the next newsletter; including how the funds will be used to support the bees and the koalas.

The C.A.T would like to thank everyone who donated and in particular the homerooms who raised over $80; including~

Mrs Griffiths/Mrs Dumbleton and 8:6                $133.15

Mr Salton and 7:5                                                         $124.85

Mr Jatan and 10:4                                                       $105.00

Mrs Savage and 7:1                                                    $96.65

Mrs Duncan /Mr Neville and 10:2                         $88.60

“Library Ladies” and 9:5                                         $83.25

Mrs Pattern and 7:8                                                    $81.35

Already we have started to receive entries in our “Be You” activity; where we get to step outside of our comfort zone and learn a new skill. Details have been emailed to all students however it is a simple concept……..create a 1min clip of you learning, practicing and mastering your new skill; whatever it may be and send through to Mr Neville or myself by the end of week 9. There are some amazing prizes to be won and everyone is encouraged to submit an entry.

For those who wish to “Rise to the Challenge” and learn how to knit there are several kits still available at the front office (needles, instructions and yarn) so please feel free to collect and return completed squares week 9.

We are also encouraging people to develop their recycling program both here and at home. Please remember that CAREVAN is a registered recipient at both “Return and Earn” sites so if you wish to not only be a great global citizen you can be an amazing local citizen and support this vital service.

It was wonderful to see many of the students returning to MCC this week and see such enthusiasm and excitement as they reconnected with their friends and teachers. The return of students has also coincided with the return of the cooler mornings; with students now wearing their full winter uniform. Thank you to the families who have sent in surplus uniform items; donations are always greatly appreciated and distributed to others constantly. I do ask however that all students please label their jumpers, blazers and tracksuit jackets as they are easily misplaced and already, we have items making their way to lost property.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you require any assistance and I hope that you have a wonderful weekend and as the restrictions are slowly being lifted; we all continue to remain safe and healthy.
