Leader of Curriculum

I have been very impressed with the way our students have adapted to online learning over the past 6 weeks. It has been a difficult time, with our staff and students navigating through Google Classroom, Google Meets and Zoom lessons, just to name a few. All of these ways have enabled our college to ensure our students are still able to access the curriculum and provide support for their learning. The college is committed to providing the best education we can whilst ensuring our community is safe.

It is pleasing to see the safe partial return of our students, and I am confident the amount of days students are able to return will increase over the coming weeks.

I have been able to visit all of the year 12 homerooms, ensuring that their course and personal details are correctly entered with NESA. There are still a few students who are yet to activate their Students Online Account. It is the responsibility of each student to create an account with NESA and keep their personal details up to date.

NESA released the 2020 HSC Timetable today, all students can now use their account to access their personal timetable for their respective courses of study. Whilst this timetable has been moved back due to the disrupted year, it has not impacted their graduation date.

HSC Trial Examinations have also been moved back by a week, to help ensure our students are adequately prepared for this examination period.

Year 10 and 11 students will also need to make sure they have visited Students Online via the NESA website and activate their account with NESA. This will enable students to be fully aware of NESA notifications as well as ensuring their course and personal details are correct. All Year 10 and 11 students have been informed about this at the start of the year. I urge any student who has not yet activated their account, to do this as soon as possible.

Parent/Teacher/Student conferences will continue for year 12 students via Zoom interviews with staff. Parents will receive a notice via Compass on the details of this soon. We are currently not expecting the need for Year 7 to 11 Interviews, at the end of this semester, to follow this format.

Minimum Standards in Numeracy, Reading and Writing are still a requirement for the completion of the HSC. Students who were absent or have yet to meet the standard will be provided with an opportunity to complete these later this term.

Thank you for your support over these unprecedented times.

Regards
