Assistant Principal News

It has been an exciting week for us all with students returning in stages to the College for face to face classes.

We are pleased to say it has been a seamless transition back into School for students and teachers, demonstrated by the many smiling faces, friendly conversations and engaging learning taking place. And while this has been happening, we also have quality online learning taking place for students who are not scheduled to be at school.

Next week we are also excited about having Year 11 and Year 12 return for five days, as well as Years 7-10 returning for their one scheduled day.

We also wish to remind parents and students of the importance of students being highly organised whilst still learning from home. Students must check their emails regularly throughout each day, attend scheduled video lessons and complete set work. Several emails have been sent this week to parents of students who are not engaging in online learning and as a result are not meeting the outcomes of their subject. We ask parents to please have regular conversations with your child about their progress and work that they need to complete.

To further support our students while transitioning between home and school the Yr 11 Wellbeing Committee created a series of ‘Wellbeing at Home’ videos to highlight the five important elements students need to focus on to promote a healthy mindset. These videos. Alongside the MCC Wellbeing Graphic have been posted to our Facebook page. Please take the time to watch them, as not only are they informative and relevant but also an example of the outstanding dedication and efforts of our Year 11 team.

In addition to this, we will be providing support to parents and students during these unique times by continuing Year 12 Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences in a revised format. Year 12 Reports will be available through Compass by next Tuesday 19th May and then the following Wednesday (27th) in Week 5, parents and students are invited to engage in Video Conferences with Year 12 teachers.

The conferences will take place through the Zoom Video Conferencing Application from 3:45 - 6pm during Wednesday 27th. As per normal, parents and students will have 5 minutes to discuss student progress and ways forward with the teacher. Parents will be able to book their time slots through Compass from Monday the 18th of May. They will then be able to join a unique Zoom Meeting for each of the teachers.

We believe these interviews are of vital importance and encourage all parents and their child to participate in these constructive discussions.

Yours in Learning
