Principal's Report

Principal - Brea Terris

Assistant Principal -Anthea Mathers

Dear Families,

It is hard to believe that next week is the last week of Term Two.

In such challenging times the entire ETRS community have done an amazing job adapting to Remote learning and then transitioning back to school these past few weeks.

There have been many positives through out the remote learning time which we will learn from and reflect on how we can continue to use these strategies to support our families.

This includes using Class Dojo for parent communication . The staff are meeting on Monday night to celebrate the term and capture these learnings.  2020 will be a year that we will never forget.

At this stage we are still awaiting conformation

about what COVID safe practices we will need to continue implementing in Term Three. Once we receive this information we will let families know. This maybe late next week or over the holiday period.

Just a reminder in the last week of term, please ensure your child is at school by 8.45am. If you child arrives later than 8.45am, they will be marked late on the roll. The gates are locked at 8:45am.

Gates and classrooms are open from 8.30am. The earlier start allows time for hand washing and being settled in the classroom by the time learning starts at 9.00am.

Mid Year Reporting

Mid Year Reports will be available  for families to download off the Sentral Portal at 12pm on Monday. If you need help accessing the reports, please don't hesitate to contact the office and we can support you.

If you would like a hard copy of the report, please contact the office or you classroom teacher and we can organise this for you.

The reports this semester will look slightly different with the introduction of remote learning. Parent Teacher Interview  bookings are open on the Portal. Please see the important dates  page for when your child's interview day is. These interviews will be done via Webex. Your child's teacher will send you a link for the interview.

Ipads

If you borrowed an Ipad from the school during remote learning, please ensure this is returned to school on Monday next week. These can be handed to your child's class teacher or the office. If we have not received Ipads back by early next week, phones calls will be made to individual families. It is very important we receive these back as they support the classroom programs.

Early Dismissal for end of Term Two

The students will be dismissed at the following times next Friday for the end of Term Two:

Red and Yellow house - 2pm

Bus Travellers- 2.10pm

Blue and Green house - 2.15pm

3/4 Camp

Unfortunately due to COVID-19 we have had to cancel the 3/4 Camp. This was due to take place on August 18th-20th. We understand that camps are now able to open in the coming weeks with the lifting of restrictions, but due to a number of administration and financial considerations we have had to cancel the 3/4 camp. The Grade 5 camp in November is currently being assessed and we will have more information for parents next week.

5/6 Swimming

Grade 5/6 Swimming was due to take place at the end of Term One. Due to COVID-19 this was cancelled. Clare in the office will be in touch with families who paid for swimming in early Term Three. We will have some options about rolling money over into student accounts or refunding this money.

Helmets

It is great to see so many students back riding bikes or scooters to school. We have noticed that a number of students are not wearing helmets. If your child requires a helmet we do have a number of spares that we can give to students at school. Please contact Anthea if you need a helmet.

Uniform

As we have returned from remote learning , we have had a number of students beginning to wear black bottoms (eg. track suit pants, shorts  or leggings) to school. Please ensure your child is in correct uniform each day. This includes navy blue bottoms and the tops with the school logo on it. If you require support with uniform please don't hesitate to contact us.

Drink Bottles

Please remember all students require a named drink bottle at school as the bubble taps are not operational. If you require a drink bottle, ETRS drink bottles can be purchased at the office for $5. Parents/Carers can ring the door bell at the front of the school and speak to one of the office staff or call the office and we can arrange for these to be provided to students.

Illness

As we have transitioned back to Face to Face teaching, we have had a number of students become unwell at school. The students have presented with either cold like symptoms or gastro symptoms. If your child becomes unwell at school, they will be sent home immediately.

If they present with gastro symptoms please support us in not spreading it to other students by keeping children home 48 hours after the last time they vomited or had diarrhoea.

We thank you in advance for keeping students who are unwell at home.

Foundation 2021 Enrolments

All enrolment documents are available to download from our website. You may also contact the school and we can send the information to you via email or the post.

If you know of any families who are interested in enrolling, please ask them to contact the school. Thank you to our families who are getting the good word out in the community about our school, word of mouth is the most powerful form of advertising and consequently we are fielding an increased number of inquiries about our school.

Have a lovely weekend. It sounds like we are in for lots of rain. See you all next week.

Kind regards,
