Principal's Message

Mr Forrest

Welcome Back

Well the first school Term arrived and concluded very quickly just like the recent Easter school holidays.   We are now back and ready for action with a busy Term 2.  Make sure you keep an eye on the school calendar, social media platforms, the school website and of course the school newsletter so that you stay informed.

ANZAC DAY School Service

This Friday during 1A our whole school will participate in a ANZAC Day Service.  Parents are welcome to attend the service which will be held in the KLC at 9:10 a.m.   Students in Years 4-6 will present some poetry along with our school leaders.  Representatives from the local Wedderburn RSL will be in attendance to run the formal part of the ceremony.

Instrumental Music Continues

Ms Jenny Wagstaff is now in her third week of teaching instrumental music at Wedderburn College.  Secondary students will have the opportunity to have a period of music each week in years 7 - 10.  All students who are interested in learning an instrument will be able to apply to have small group instrumental music lessons weekly as well. Please contact the office if you would like an expression of interest form or see Mrs Wagstaff on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. there are still a few spaces available for lessons if you would like to learn an instrument.  Students will also have a chance to learn music during a lunchtime session.

Students' School Easter Fete Huge Success

I would like to give all students, staff and volunteers a huge pat on the back for organising the Easter Fete before the term break.  It was great to have a larger event that will only grow in the future. Hopefully we can have the community and parent body involved next year.   Everyone pitched in to running and cleaning up the event which was very pleasing to see.

It was great to have an event like this which builds a very positive school culture as we all learned a lot from working together on fete day.

Eggnormous Easter Raffle

Well done to the Parents Association and Admin staff for coordinating the Eggnormous raffle. It was a great test of mental strength not to eat the donated eggs before the big day! Major winner of the large basket was Harlem and what a happy winner he was too. Thanks a lot to all students, staff members and families who donated eggs and chocolates to the raffle and for also buying the tickets.

Out & About This Week - Lunchtime Activities

It was fantastic to see so many students participating in lunchtime basketball activities during Term 1.  We now switch our attention to the netball court and to the newly painted four/eight courts located in the quadrangle.  Thanks to the students for suggesting the addition of non slip line marking between the KLC and in the Library quadrangle.

Nacho Station Art Class

It was great to see our year 10 Art class on the school top oval  participating in experimenting with spray paint to create funky art works with the team from NACHO Station in Bendigo. In the near future the students will be creating some new art works that will brighten up our school canteen.

School Beanies Available Soon - $15

After working with students in our focus groups, a number of ideas have been put forward to the School Council by our student representative, Lahni Jackson.  One of the ideas was to have a new trendy school beanie.    Hopefully the beanies will be available from the Uniform Shop in few weeks time ready for winter.  We will let you know when they are ready to go.
