VCAL News

VCAL students have been busy developing their teamwork skills in a range of projects this term, including minor renovations of A7 and preparing reward lunches, basketball drills in junior PE classes and food platters for staff before PT conferences. Some students are planning a BBQ fundraiser for Term 2.

We are really excited about our camp in Term 2 and look forward to giving VCAL students the opportunity to work towards competency in Personal Development, Literacy, Numeracy and Work-Related Skills outcomes whilst having fun and challenging themselves. Parents/guardians are reminded that consent forms and payment are due by the first day of Term 2. If you need financial support or to set up a payment plan, please contact our friendly office staff as soon as possible.

We are also excited to start some major projects next term to build skills, knowledge, confidence and a range of employability skills. We have been extremely fortunate to be granted some funds from Connect Well Community Building Funding and will be provided with a social enterprise mentor for students as well as a small grant for buying materials and tools for projects. This is really exciting and we can’t wait to see what students achieve.

All students should now have work placement organised and should be completing their SWL booklet each week. If your child does not have work placement organised yet, please encourage them to sort this out as soon as possible. Work placement is vital for students doing VCAL and their ability to complete their certificate could be compromised if they don’t do enough hours throughout the year.
