VTAC Registration closes September 28

The VTAC countdown is on. Registrations close on September 28, and SEAS applications close on October 10. Students have been given a checklist to ensure they are on track to have various tasks completed on time. Spare copies can be downloaded below.

See the photo and attachment below for key dates, and remember to check the VTAC website for additional dates relevant to your specific situation. A number of courses have very early closing dates, and will not be available for selection after those dates. These include, but are not limited to, design-related courses or those which require auditions, interviews or additional selection tasks to be completed.

VTAC scholarships

All students submitting a VTAC application are encouraged to fill out the scholarship application before October 13.

VTAC Webinar- For the general Community and Parents

In conjunction with the CEAV, VTAC is hosting a webinar for students, parents, and the general community which provides a complete overview of the VTAC application process including preferences, SEAS, scholarships, offers, and the ATAR. The session is interactive, and participants can ask questions throughout using a keyboard or microphone.

The webinar will run from 7pm-8pm on Wednesday 13 September.

Work Experience: Year 10 forms now overdue

Work Experience is a valuable part of the Year 10 experience and helps to inform student choices and pathways as they move through to VCE and tertiary study. Year 10 Work Experience arrangement forms are now overdue: please your child returns these to their tutor as soon as possible.

Important information for aspiring teachers

Students wishing to study teaching degrees in 2018 will need to sit the CASPer test.

CASPer is an online test, the results of which are forwarded to VTAC. This is a prerequisite for any degree that prepares you for registration as a teacher.

There are set dates on which the test can be taken.

Students in Year 12 will need to sit the CASPer test before December if they want their results to be processed in time for Round 1 offers.

Early Entry Offer Program - Victoria University

Victoria Uni has launched a new Early Entry Offer Program this year for students who have demonstrated leadership or have experienced disadvantage.

To summarise a few of the benefits of the EEOP, successful applicants will:

Receive an early conditional offer for their chosen VU course, prior to exams
Benefit from adjusted ATAR entry requirements
Still be able to benefit from other VU special admission programs

Applications for this program must be made directly via Vic Uni’s website vu.edu.au/early-entry, as well as applying for courses via VTAC. EEOP applications must be completed by October 13, so if you are thinking of entering Vic Uni preferences at any stage, consider applying for EEOP.

RMIT Interview Skills Workshops for VCE Students

Now in its sixth year, Ready Set Design is a series of three workshops for students in Years 11 and 12 where they can learn about careers and tertiary programs in design, develop their folio, and practice their interview and presentation skills.

Registrations are now open for workshop 3 (Interview Bytes), which will be held on Monday 25 September at RMIT’s City campus.

The Interview Bytes workshop will give students the opportunity to hear from a panel of RMIT design tutors and current students about what to expect during a program interview. The panel will share their experience as interviewers and interviewees, and discuss the kinds of questions students may be asked, as well as some techniques for presenting their folio to the interview panel.

Attending students will have the opportunity to ask questions and to speak with students and teaching staff across a range of RMIT design programs.

To register their attendance, students must visit our event page , select the workshop they wish to attend, and provide their details. Students aged under 18 years of age will also need to return a consent form signed by their parent or carer.

NHS students are eligible to receive an ATAR boost, or assistance in the folio/interview process, if they have remembered to tick Category 1 in the SEAS section of their VTAC application. This must be done by October 10.

La Trobe Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship

NHS students are also eligible to apply for the La Trobe Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship. This generous scholarship provides one student with automatic admission to La Trobe’s Hallmark Program for high-achieving students, which brings with it many benefits such as personalised academic coaching and mentoring, additional leadership opportunities and exclusive access to special elective and research subjects designed to develop leadership, communication and teamwork skills. Recipients receive $6,000 per year for the duration of their undergraduate degree for up to four years, and are guaranteed a study abroad scholarship to the value of $1,500. Application forms can be obtained from Kylie Witt and must be submitted to her by October 10.

William Angliss Workshops

William Angliss Institute will be conducting workshops for secondary school students in the upcoming September school holidays. Each day will include a hands-on activity in one of our specialist areas, a campus tour, catered lunch and a course information session. The program is recommended for students in Year 9 - 12.
